They say the volcano itself is getting more fierce. May mate is going from Malaga... he seems to think he will be ok to go there tomorrow at 10:00 am.

Surely according the the Schipol site that wont go ahead right? This has fucked up my weekend big time. And it's my birthday today too.

According to this animated picture on the met offices site the cloud will start to pass the the Netherlands by 01:00 moving onto 07:00 where it has passed it and even more after....

Hopefully later flights will be ok although the UK is still covered so thats probably a non point.

Should be in Memphis right now heading to Amsterdam, but the volcano has sent us home and the earlist we can get in is on Monday the 19th of April. Cross your fingers this thing settles down so flights can resume and people can make into town.
Hope to see everyone Monday evening now. :?

What airline are you flying? I've heard rumors about the 19th being the first day open to re-book for Schipol, hope it's not true, as I desperately want to be there no later than Monday morning. On the flip side, I feel real uneasy right now about flying after a fuckin' volcanic eruption.

This sucks on so many levels.

The cloud of volcanic ash continues to cover much of the UK and the eruption in Iceland continues. Following a review of the latest Met Office information, NATS advises that restrictions will remain in place in UK controlled airspace until 1900 (UK time) today, Friday 16 April, at the earliest.

In general, the situation cannot be said to be improving with any certainty as the forecast affected area appears to be closing in from east to west. We continue to work closely with airports, airlines, and the rest of Europe to understand and mitigate the implications of the volcanic eruption.

------

What a bummer. Oh well eurostar it is then.

I checked on the Delta web site and there saying flights scheduled from the 15th through the 18th can be re- booked. I don't know if that means there will be no flights leaving until the 19th or what? If the Ash cloud is growing all bets may be off. This is seriously screwed up!
