Thats my experience of that side of town, from my trip report last Octobar. Hope it gives you a little Idea or two.Thursday, Oct 15th.
After the usual morning wake and bake, shower and a fry up cooked by Newbinho, we hit the road, with the sole intention of making it out to Boerenjongen.
So, we meandered through the canals untill we got to the Liedseplien. From there, it was simply a case of following Overtoom all the way to the end, then Hanging a right when you cross the canal. Here is a couple of pics from that Junction.
Following the canal for 2-3 minutes, Boerenjongens appears on the Left.
After locking up the bikes we headed into the Shop. There were a few locals buying their herb, a couple rolling their spliffs, but the Tender was super cool. He showed us everything we wanted to see. I eventually settled on the 100% Sativa, Heavens Snow ( my guess, the greenhouse’s Hawaiian Snow ) for € 13 a gram.
And the “ Off Menu “ Chemdog for € 10 a gram.
Newbinho ended up buying a fat sack of G13x Chocoloupe ( sorry, no pics of that shit).
After confirming with the Tender that “Rokin mit Verboten” ( hehe) indoors, we bought a couple of Apple juices, and settled down to roll up some herb.
View from the window out.
Glancing out of the window, we could see a couple of benches canal side. This appeared to be where all the folks rolling up spliffs were heading to smoke them. So we did just that. We walked over beside all the local Hoodlums, and sparked our fatties. Damn, the Heavens Snow was special. Oozing that Sativa-citrus smell, and tasting just as full. The effects were very similar the the Doc Grinspoon from Barney’s, but €4 cheaper!!
Anothr Picture.
Doobies nailed, we unlocked the bikes and set off into the Sun. We did have a plan mind. On our travels, we had spied Tuintje (sp),
so that was our next stop. A hella sexy young lass served us. I opt for a gram of T’bizla for € 9 a gram ( I think).
This shop is on three levels. We sat downstairs, rolled up a couple of Hash doobs, and started to blaze. Newbinho had bought the Superpolm, and as we passed our spliffs between us, I must say, both hashes were really nice. The super polm, perhaps having more flavour, but the T’bizla was smoother.
Now, we had planned to go to Tweedy next, roll a couple of spliffs, then chill in Vondel park. Unfortunately, I still couldn’t find the Place ( I have looked on two separate trips before, and to no avail)
This pissed me of royally, for I like to think I have good map-reading skills and a good sense of direction. Regardless, we still had shitloads of pot, so we just went to Vondel Park anyway. Pictures.
And one of my bike...
Endure

Just to add to Twichaldinho's extensive recommendation - the Blue Lagoon, a little bit further up the Overtoom from 't Tuintje (as in, heading towards Leidseplein), is lovely. It's not as nicely finished as 't Tuintje, but I much prefer the menu and company in there. It's a small shop with a definite 'locals' vibe. There is always lots of banter about all sorts of crazy topics - from helping me and my friend out with our horrendous dutch grammar to discussing politics and philosophy, if the crowd isn't too stoned there's bound to be some great discussions going on.
When I was there over 4/20, their Mako Haze was fantastic (and way cheaper than elsewhere in the Dam), as was the Kabouter hash. The hash was one of my fave smokes this trip, actually. A mellow high with a pleasantly subtle taste. Perfect for social, daytime smoking.
The Ramo Snack Bar next door makes a killer Turkish Pizza to deal with the munchies, just by the by...
