Do Coffeesshops regulary 'shake' their weed to make hash?

Post by Marco »

Someone on another forum claims this happens all the time. Then they sell the weed. I am skeptical.

Hi Marco - the main problem I've found with "other forums" is that they are often populated by people who either don't go to Amsterdam at all, or just haven't got a clue.

I would doubt very much that a reputable coffeeshop would engage in this practice, though sadly, there may well be some places that do... If they do exist, I doubt I will have the misfortune of ever trying their wares as I usually go to places I know and love or visit new places only on the recommendation of people I trust...

This topic has come up a few times on here, with varying views and opinions, but all I can say - from my experience - is that I haven't sampled "shaken" weed, knowingly at least...

If you have - then be prepared to back it up with evidence, because there are a lot more people who work in the CS's reading these pages now, who I'm sure would be deeply disappointed to be erroneously included in that rather exclusive club... Unless it's Grasshopper of course - in which case, they'd be lucky to get any resin off that wet crap they sell!

Be skeptical, Marco. For a start, where would they find the time to shake all the weed first?

As I said - you'd better be prepared to name and shame if you have evidence of this...

Perhaps you don't realise just how much extra effort they would have to put into their day to make just a tiny little piece of hash? They'd have to prepare an area to "shake" the weed and catch all the trichomes, then collect it all, sieve it to remove the extra plant material, then collect and press the resulting (very small) amount of hash. There may well be some of the growers out there who shake their shit before selling it on to the coffeeshops, but that's not what we're talking about here...

"If you do it really short it is hardly noticeable.." And the amount you get off it is "hardly noticeable" as well. C'mon - think before you type.

The amount of bubble hash I used to make was so small compared with the amount of plant matter used, that I don't even bother with it now - because it's so time consuming and messy. Do you REALLY think the folks who work at the coffeeshops have that much time on their hands that they could sit there in the back of the shop running a hash making operation in the background? I highly doubt it.

But hey, if you KNOW of any places that do this, I think it's your responsibility to inform the whole forum, don't you? I look forward to the report and accompanying pictures "from the backroom".

And you know... once they shake the weed, then they spray it as well with their magic pixie dust to make it smoke just that little bit better...

This has been brought up many times before, and most don't want to believe it happens because they see Dam as a getaway from the so called 'dealers' they have at home.

But the honest truth is cannabis is an illegal industry in Holland, more € is invested in catching growers here than it is back in the UK. And it is getting worse.

Because of this the large commercial grows are run by entrepeuneurs...criminal gangs... you can call them whatever u want but the bottom line is some of the larger supply proccesses in Amsterdam are controlled by people that are motivated purely my money and not producing high quality cannabis.

Therefore, the dutch market is no different to others in the sense that dodgy batches do go around... whether sprayed,shaken,stirred....

The good thing is that since there is so much choice in Dam, you for 1 are not likely to see tampered bud, and 2nd can just say no and go to the coffeeshop next door. In the UK there is a take it or leave it attitude which means people just put up with what they get, which encourages the money motivated individuals to carry on etc... at leasts is not as bad in NL...

..all I can add to this debate is an awful lot of you were querying Grey areas buds for months last year, the accusations of 'shaken the life out of 'em' was read many times by me, with loads of you posting here about how their buds looked the business but had no punch.....

..yet I havent read this comment now for months in the Grey area reports so either everyone has got bored saying it or GA stopped doing it or they never did it in the first place...they certainly hadnt shaken the chocolope I had late last year, bloody hell that was good, it peed all over the hazes I was getting from elsewhere (though Im realising more and more that all the buds I moan about here and in dam are all sativa dominant, I just dont feel stoned at all on them)..

i dont know why you use such a tone but ok. first of all i said, i think not i know. so no pics, just my opinion.
if you shake the bud and get a tiny bit of high grade keif, you wont notice that it was shaken and you can sell the keif for much money. where should the gunpowder, grey dust etc come from otherwise?

The shaken buds wont be sold in decent shops, I doubt its even sold in the crap shops but it wouldn't surprise me if it was used in pre rolled joints near enough everywhere.

..im sure your right, it would be such a short term gain for the established places, make a few (lot) quid in the short term, lose custom in the long term, all seems a bit unlikely to me.....another one to add to the pile of dope myths??

Yes Please :D
Is yer Fu Fu Dry sift or unpressed Bubble Bongdude?
If its dry sift, do you just collect it by Trimming over a mesh screen, or do you own something specificly designed to do it ( Like, I dunno, a tumbler :D ? )

I'm just curious, as I dont think rolling a few buds in a tumbler would reduce the quality of the Buds as much as people think. Well grown herb drips in THC, loosing a little, is not gonna reduce the potency too much, right? wrong? :?

dry bounced buds from a 4 inch spacecase grinder ..or my wicca box...all mine is natural, not forced,,,just what falls thru when the buds are being broken up for a session..the wikka box is a 72 micron..so it bubbles occasionally...most of the sugar leaf goes into the washing machiune for bubble hash...and the low wispy buds go into the mighty pound yer head in cake :D
