General Advice Needed!

Hi everyone,

i've signed up because i'm going to amsterdam next weekend with a friend and i need some advice to maximise my amsterdam experience!

i've been looking on here for a while, but haven't been able to find out answers to everything so here goes....

-whats the tobacco substitute like? i always smoke a joint with baccy in it, so will this herbal stuff ruin the joint or not? would smkoking a pure weed joint murder me as i'm not used to the quality and quantity of weed?

-whats the difference in effect between weed and hash? i've NEVER tried good hash, so would it be definitely worth trying?

-what's a good strain to start on, if i'm after nice non-harsh (tasty if possible) smoke, but something that isn't going to knock me out after one joint! i'm thinking orange bud. a good choice?

-coffeeshops. i'm staying near stix, so expecting it would be the easiest to start/ finish at. or is it one to avoid? i'm also very likely to be after a coffeeshop that has VERY comfortable seating to spend the majority of day, so are dolphins and amnesia the best ones for that?

-spacecakes. why does no people talk about them on here?! i've never had one, and really fancy trying one, so are there different types, or recommended places to go?

-bongs. are there many shops that have them for use? what is the 'bong etiquette'?! wait yout turn, or is there one to a table etc etc is it better to use hash in a bong?

anyway, i'm sure it'll be better to find out for myself, which i'll definitely do, but like i said, i just want to do the research beforehand to have a bit of a head start!

if someone could spare the time to even try and answer one of my questions, i'd really appreciate it.

As long as you keep your smokes off the tables they are cool with you smoking mixed. I think if you are used to smoking mixed, pure will mess you up. I only smoke pure. Yumm.

tobacco substitute is horrid, just ask if you could use tobacco none of my mates were ever told No.. pure is stronger but the only way to go 2 tokes and put it down.. for me hash is a heavy head high, bud for me is a body and head high, maybe zero zero for for a nice up high..even though i love my bud theres nothing like a nice bit of hash.. would say dampkring 2 bubblegum,white choco would be a nice tastey start, nothing wrong with orange bud either..stix is known for NTB and gunpowder, its near bluebird,basejoe,greenplace,hunters theres bloody loads around that area..coffeeshops de graal,ocean,club media are very comfy nice seats/couches and nothing wrong with amnesia or dolphins..islandgurl review shows her fav cakes are from mellow yellow at 3.50 euros..most coffeeshops have bongs but i would go for vaporizers instead and since the so called smoking ban they are more popular in coffeeshops..worth you getting a small pipe as bonging its gonna hit you hard and maybe leave you in a state..print off the map on this site it will help you out..might be worth seting up a toke and talk lovely people(stoners) ive met loads in amsterdam from here plus your get some good tips..hope you have a great time mate read the trip reports they will help you pick where to go and whats hot or not

Homegrown Fantasy usually has really good cakes. I'm not a big fan of the cake. Totally different high. Wicked munchies too. But if you want to give it a go I think that HGF is a good way to go. They are pretty tasty too. Have fun!!! I am off for my 5th trip in 4 days. Yeah!

Here in NYC, we smoke it straight up without tobacco, although we commonly smoke it in blunts or cigr paper, so in a way its tabacco!

Since I dont smoke cigarettes, I always smoke mine striaght up in a joint with filter. I usually bring my own papers (EZ-Wider's) from the New york to roll in AMS.

Hash is a more potent high and a lovely one too!

I tend to sprinkle some inside a joint and roll. Basjoe's is a good palceto get some fresh quality hash. Definately get some hash!

I very much recommend Amnesia. Ample seating and cool counter folk. I also like the atmosphere of Paradox. Not much into the noisy boisterous places. Calm can be nice at times.

Oh yeah, almost forgot space cakes!

Try La Tertulia for some delicious homemade pot brownies. Potent and good. Also, Paradox has some very good home made space cakes too. They're better than the "packaged" ones you find elese where, which I find less strong. These are cellophane wrapped and come in various pastry types.

I've printed off the map, and will probably highlight a few coffee shops that have been recommended on here and othe threads.

Didn't think I could get any more excited but the last few days waiting to go are going to be torture!

As for Bongs, most shops will let you use them. Grey Area and Homegrown Fantasy have nice Glass bongs for loan. 420 has "ROOR" Bongs, (among the best), for loan. But, you should really try Vaporizers, especially if you dont like smoking "pure". Most shops have Volcano Vapes, you can fill up the bag and share with your mates. The "Volcano" vapes are great, but the "Verdampers"
are even better. You can find them at Anyday, La Tertuila, Katsu,,(all good shops) and at "The Cannabis College", if you take the tour of there Garden.
Also, Anyday and Katsu have some nice Imported weed. You should also try the Honey B at Amnesia. If you want a very pleasant Sativa, but not overpowering, that would be a good one. The Durban Poison, at Home Grown Fantasy, would be a good choice as well. Enjoy!

Cheers for the useful bong advice. Will definitely be highlighting some ofthe shops you mentioned on my map!

One more thing - is smoking weed only tolerated in the coffee shops? Just thinking about the final day, and how I'd definitely like to be stoned for my flight home!

Actually one more thing - is it stupid to bring back a grinder? Planning on getting a nice metal filtering grinder when I'm over there and wodering if I clean it out, will there still be problems coming home?!

Just make sure your grinder has nothing in it..

I forgot about the 3 grams or so I left in my grinder and for some reason packed then bought a new cheap one to use because i had lost the one I brought whilst on mushrooms.. Luckily I was stopped on the Holland side and had to sign some thing to say customs had taken it from me. Over 5 grams and they said it would have been very uncomfortable for me.

They took the gear out, scraped the grinder with a pen and gave me it back. I wasn't stopped in the UK. Always clean as a whistle when ever I travel now.

You can pick up cheap grinders from the markets but most coffeeshops have one you can borrow, its also a conversation starter, asking to borrow the next tables grinder and leaving them some weed it as thanks.
