British Airways on strike

Post by vivalamata »

Folks, if anyone is flying with BA anytime in the next few weeks you may want to check your reservations. I just spent ALL morning re-booking flights as the cabin crew for BA are going on a series of strikes. :x :x :x :x :x I was pretty lucky and could switch to another airline but better check.

From BA:
Our records indicate you have travel plans with British Airways which may be affected, now or in the near future, by "walk out" strikes by the Unite Cabin Crew Union. Unite has announced that it will commence 4 separate "walk-out" strikes each lasting 5 days. The first of 4 announced strikes is scheduled to begin May 18, 2010 with subsequent strikes starting May 24th, May 30th and June 5th. We expect high call volumes during this time, and want to provide our customers with online access to learn of the most recent and quickly changing updates on British Airways change and cancellation policies.

It seems that it is mostly flights within Europe that are affected.

I fly out with B.A this Monday 17, the day before their first strike starts. Scheduled to return on the 24th the day their second strikes begins. OMG, I may be stranded in Amsterdam! Apparently, according to EU rules, B.A. have to pay for my accommodation whilst I am stranded plus an allowance of around 40 Euros for sustenance. So that's 10 euros in Macky D's and 30 Euros for hash. Do coffeeshops give out receipts? 8)

You had time to burp, AP?

Now that's what I would call a serious lack of concentration fella!

Anyone would think you weren't fully dedicated to the mission of burger destruction there, bud! Although I have to admit, I was pulled up in my tracks for a wee moment when I saw that scrap of greenery hanging on to the side of my plate... I can put that down to loathing and surprise. What's your excuse??
