weed made me block out a memory or did it............?

Post by Midzy »

Last night I was telling the GF about how my work mate was nearly squashed by a 2 tonne broken rollershutter door that crash down 2 foot from him. THEN she said "well what about you in Amsterdam?" I said "when do you mean" I exected her to say summat like "oh you nearly got hit by a tram/bike/car" But she did say "when that scaffold bar landed a foot away from you" I was like "WFT you on about falling scaf bars" I honnestly did not remember, so she decribed what happened "we were walking along right near cental CS and under/very near a builing with scaffolding all around, you was charging ahead as usual walking fast towards our next CS, I was 10-15 feet behind (walking like a normal person) when suddenly a 9 foot scaffolding pole came crashing down from high up, it hit the ground a foot behind your head on its end it then toppled away from you and rolled onto the road you turned and said "fecking ell that was close" and summat about how many near misses you have had in your life, and then you walk off into central CS. I was shocked and so was the builders that were high above and so was everyone else who saw.

Now after hearing my girls story it did come back and I could suddenly remember the whole thing in graphic detail as I rememberd I got a cold chill feeling that lasted about an hour it was that feel you get when all the coulor drains from your face.

Anyway I have never forgot any of my other near death experiences and there have been a lot (when I worked at a steelworks all my lucky escapes got me the nickname Dangerouse Steve).

So today I got thinking did I block out the full memory cos it was well close and shocking and scary or did I simply forgot because I had smoked about 8 different weeds/hash?

It may have played some part but is not the cause. Since smoking herb does affect your short term memory, you may have just forgot. Sometimes our minds will regress things that are a 'none event'. Do you remember telling yourself, I'm not going to let that bother me? Or, that's not going to ruin my holiday? Any thing along those lines would have caused regression. Good thing to, the other end of the scale would be paranoia!

Peace,
