Best coffeeshops in Amsterdam to buy from?
Hi All,
I'm heading to Amsterdam soon for the first time in a few years. I've been a few times before in the past and always found the quality varied greatly from coffeeshop to coffeeshop.
I'm interested in knowing which coffeeshops people think are the best to buy from - due to the quality of the product being high. I don't mind a coffeeshop being more expensive than others (or getting slightly less in terms of quantity) provided that the quality is good.
From what I have read on the forums, it seems that Dampkring, Barneys, Katsu and Bagheera are the best places to go to buy. My preference is always for sativa over indica but I do like keeping a stash of both on me as I stroll round Amsterdam.
Are there any shops that I've missed off the above list that I should consider? Anyone disagree with the ones I've above?
I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
Cheers,
Jid

agree with katsu and dampkring...
bagheera i´ve never visited because basjoe is next door
and this also is a good place to buy
others:
green place
grey area (never been to but there are lot of good reviews about)
amnesia (almost the same as barneys but with little differences...if you wanna go there check out the l.s.d ... awesome weed! tastes really great and hits you in the face
)
homegrown fantasy but i´ve read some bad reviews in the past and was very dissapointed of this place last time
edit: forgot mellow yellow ... they also got some serious stuff

barneys are known for 100% consistent quality - but its extortion, personally I wont go and pay the best part of double the market rate.
The best place in my opinion for quality/price ratio is the BG Groep - Boerejongens and Bij,followed by Dampkring/Tweede Kamer, followed by Chapiteau.
Hope that helps mate.

fair enough, i thought that was their selling point - perhaps ive listened to too much of their marketing bs!Boner wrote:No they're not, there isn't a coffeeshop that I've been to that I would say is 100% consistent unless you're talking abou places like La Canna/Paradise as being 100% consistantly shit.bigs wrote:barneys are known for 100% consistent quality

Barneys again.
awesome weed, but offensively expensive. (still end up buying at least once everytime im there though, despite 15 euros a gram or more)
IMO home grown fantasy as well. personally never ever been disapointed with HGF in the 10 years of going. but everything is down to personal opinion.

Trips to the 'dam: 27
A lot can depend on the actual batch they have in at the time - I've been to certain shops at the beginning of a trip and again at the end of my stay and found the same weed to be very different quality - even in the more "consistent" shops.
Barneys for me is way too expensive for anything nowadays - I always used to stop here at least once or twice, but the breakfast alone has put me off with the ridiculous high prices for, lets face it, a pretty mediocre nosebag...
Amnesia has always seemed to serve me up with pretty consistent and good selections of weed and hash, as does my new first-stop shop, Green Place...
Hunters does a pretty mean NYCD, but I've found it's hit and miss sometimes with the budtender on duty - one visit left me seriously short-changed after being more or less pushed into buying something that was shoved in front of my nose and told "this is the best shit you'll ever smoke, man!", even after asking for something else - it wasn't all that, and I was stoned enough not to check my change straightaway. My bad, but if I see the same guy in there now, I just move on to the next place.
De Kuil has always been good to me, and if it opened an hour earlier, it would still be my first stop everytime... The service has always been good and the weed rarely fails to please.
Grey Area has a great selection of top smokes, and if you can get around the lack of seating in there, it's a must visit.
Katsu is worth the trip for the Black Widow alone - and if you stroll through the nearby market first for some nice fresh munchies... Top stuff!
The most consistent place I have ever been to is the Grasshopper. Consistent in the way that the weed is always wet, undercured, smokes bad and tastes crap. I'd rather shit in my hand and clap.
Have fun!

totaly right.Boner wrote:No they're not, there isn't a coffeeshop that I've been to that I would say is 100% consistent unless you're talking abou places like La Canna/Paradise as being 100% consistantly shit.bigs wrote:barneys are known for 100% consistent quality
even shops like Dampkring, mellow yellow and the rokerij get bad batches from time to time.....its different with shops like Yo-Yo which get theri stuff from some reasenable guy which is always the same.
I made the experience that Dampkring will always carry many top-grade strains, e.g. look at the Mexican Haze which is cured to perfection since years now......
just have a look at what you want to buy and nothing can go wrong
Chapiteau, only buy and fly. Same weed as the much talked about center shops at 30% less.jid_stoner wrote:I should add that I'm not actually bothered about the ambience or whether a place is nice to smoke in. I just would like to know which are the best ones to buy - even if I'm just buying in that shop and walking straight out of the door to smoke elsewhere.
I have had garbage from Barney's more than once.bigs wrote:barneys are known for 100% consistent quality - but its extortion, personally I wont go and pay the best part of double the market rate.
