It was suggested by a few of the members that some of us may be willing to rent/share an apartment. I'm planning on arriving on the 18th and staying at least a week. There will be 3 or four of us going, but my wife and her friend may come a little later, or stay a little longer as my wife wants to go to Belgium and spend a few days, whereas I will most likely be staying back w/my other friend. Have found some good deals on some sites, Loving Amsterdam is one of them and StayAmsterdam.com is another.

Hey Twitch, It was Bluming who mentioned the appart share.
I'm definately interested in this plan. I took a look around some websites and it would appear that you can get a place that would sleep 10 or more. the only problem I see here is that it was double beds in most of them, if not doubles, bunks were used... Unless there are places that have single rooms or at least twin rooms (I'm happy to share a room with ANYBODY but my own room would be nice)... this might prove difficult....?
I'm going to continue looking at what's available... I'm also wondering how we would fund this... would one person book and pay for the place...? Ideas/suggestions are welcomed.
Another thought was that we hijacked a hotel and all stayed in the same place...? But the idea of having a base (appartment) which could be a common ground would be wicked... man, this is going to be one hell-ova party !!

Rez, I was thinking of something a little nice and with only a few extra people so that everyone does have their own room. Have been looking at stuff in 1100-1200 eu. range for week and then dividing that by how long people stay, as I know some people will not be staying a week.On the StayAmsterdam site they have a new apt. building w/ 8 different apts. That would also be something to consider, depending on how many people were interested in sharing we could possibly rent a couple of apts. in the same place. Let's see what other responses we get, still have time to plan how and who would put downpayment. I would be willing to do so only if people who say they will come put it in writing so I don't get stuck. Keep on looking at things and I will too. Any one else who is interested and has any ideas please make comments/suggestions

I'd be down to share an apartment. Pretty flexible about sleeping arrangements and cost. I'd probably just be doing a long weekend kind of thing. My friends and I have used paypal to tranfer funds from each other to cover the cost. Option anyway. Carnivale in Bahia, Brazil and 4/20 in Amsterdam, 2007 is really starting to look good.

Certainly can't argue about the money each person would save by getting an apartment together but I've got myself provisionally booked in at probably the best cheap hotel in Amsterdam (Rookies) and I desperately want to check that out.
The idea of paying for the room when I actually arrive at the hotel is a big plus for me and it's had so many good reviews from so many people.
The apartment idea certainly makes it easier for groups to meet up if they are all staying at the same place but I've also noticed that Rookies is in a great area for those who want to explore the finer coffeeshops that Amsterdam has to offer as well as the various museums.
It's a tough one but I'm going to stick with the plans I have already got and hopefully there will be other members who won't be too far away when 4/20 comes around.

Shared Barthroom or Toilet?
I hate toilets/barthroom which are used by other people...so it would be nice to have ya own toilet/barthroom in room.
Any infos about that?
Thanks

You know, I never even thought about that and it is something that I do not want when I go looking for a hotel in Amsterdam. I like my bathroom to be private and en-suite.
Cheers Paco, I'm definitely keeping the booking at Rookies now.
In my opinion, I think it would be extremely difficult (and expensive) to find an apartment with more than one bathroom. You might get separate toilet and shower/bath areas but that would be about it I would say.
I'm sure there will be someone out there who will now shoot me down in flames.

I am only looking for a few people to share an apt. and the ones I am looking at would have their own bathroom en-suite. My wife and her friend will not be coming until after 4/20 so people would probely have their own bedroom. Cost of places I have been looking at range from 1,100 to 1,300 for a week. We will probely be staying till Queen's Day and people would only be expected to pay for nights they actually stay. I am not looking to share because of costs, but more in the interest of meeting/partying with people from ACD.Could rent a 3 bedroom apt. and have 2-3 members share and still have some privacy. Will continue to look at apartments and keep all posted.

On the StayAmsterdam site
so great looking apartments on there and available for a good price if you stay more than a week.
I have been looking at apts all weekend and trying to decide when we will be going again. Based on what i've learned we will definitely be staying in an apartment.
Anyone on here booked a stay through the
www.stayamsterdam.com site??

Plans have changed somewhat. The one other smoker who was going to go has changer her mind, so not sure what size apartment we are going to rent. Will now be my wife and possibly a friend of hers. She dosn't want to leave me by myself while they go to Belgium and etc., so probebly won't be staying there on Queens day weekend. Just don't know damn it

Only the I'm sure of is I will be there for at leat 4 or 5 days and will be there for 420 and the boat trip if it happens.
