Howdy from Glasgow!

Post by eroz »

Hi there - long time reader and have posted a couple of reviews in the distant past after our first ace trip to The Dam about 3 years ago.

My wife and I are returning in September for 4 nights for her 30th birthday and cannot wait! It looks as though things have changed a bit since we were there what with the smoking ban and all? I'm a little worried as we are really not smokers but like to experiment . . . "when in Rome and all that".

When we were there before we got some really strong White Widdow from Grasshopper 2 (didn't much like that place btw). I found this a bit too strong and a bit harsh to the taste (as I said we are not regular tokers). We mixed it with tobaco but it still seemed "nasty" to the taste and hit the group hard.

We also got some amazing bud from the Jolly Joker. We were offered White Widdow but I declined as we had some from the last place. I can't remember what it was called because we were so stoned after it. This other stuff had really bright orange tinges in it and all of in the group felt it was a sweeter, milder, and more pleasant stone. It seemed a happier, more relaxed high. We were still off our faces by the end of 2 joints and a space cake however! Spent the next 2 hours walking around the RLD laughing our heads off!

So, it sounds like we are amature smokers who are a bit worried about anything too harsh or overpowering - particularly if you are not allowed to mix it with tobaco these days. Any recommendations would be most welcome.

Is there a general rule to the types of stuff out there as to what kind of stone it will give you or does it just depend on the person and the surroundings etc. I HATE A PARANOID STONE.

I'm counting the days until we are sitting on our houseboat, smoking a doob and watching the world pass bye :)

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Welcome ( rewelcome ) to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.

A general rule of thumb, though hybrids don't count.

Sativa = high = daytime smoke = Wow, let's go climb the Westertoren.
Indica = stoned = evening smoke = Oh man, I can't move too much.

Almost anything with haze in the name is a sativa, or at least sativa dominant.

Trust your budtender and ask him/her questions. They know their product.

Try some practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.

Enjoy

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice. For during the day, I definitely prefer the "get up and go high" than the "lethargic stone". Having said that, there is nothing better than stoned sleep I reckon :)

Are there any particular varieties that are renowned for causing anxiety or paranoia. I remember once not being able to sleep due to the particular colour of the moon on the curtains one night. It freaked me out for hours  I will avoid these!

I've been looking at the weed menus from the coffee shops and one thing I don't get is - if you can't smoke tobaco these days, what is a "mixed joint" mixed with? This is what I mean when I say there is concern over how strong these "pure" joints will be.

Also, what would you smoke a hash joint with if you are not allowed tobaco? Back home we always used to "burn" hash in a joint with tobaco. I realise this is a total beginner thing to ask but, is there a distinct difference between the effects of bud to hash? We always stuck to grass in The Dam but I'm reading some tasty reports of the black stuff :)

Again, I really appreciate the education.

Welcome from the other side of the M8  Most of the c/s allow you to roll up with tabak , but keep it off the table (cig packet) and ask if its ok ? most of them allow just keep an eye what others are doing some places have smoking rooms where you can smoke mixed so it should not be a problem , also yes some hash is maybe better than smoking some mental sativa my first couple of trips i used to smoke hash in the day (usually a nice Afghan or Marroc) then keep the weed for the evening . I felt as if i could function better that way

have a good one dude
