Thanks for a brilliant read, and it's great to get the gen from places outside Amsterdam. I like Den Bosch too, its a long time since I visited there, so its now on my list.

Peace :) .
What a long strange trip it is.

Cute write-up, thanks. You need one of these:

Back to being your everyday hillbilly . That is after an extra day, courtesy of Delta in a Detroit hotel . Our final leg home was canceled due to "lack of crew" ...worlds newfangled largest airline can't find a pilot at the end of the month . Susy back with the cat , we were successful in our primary mission ,and have the gig in the future if we can time our trips right...yay , I kinda felt at home there ...

So since this IS a Coffeeshop Forum , here's our wrap-up ...
Our favorite CS remains Basjoe . Seems like 5 years now we've said that . James would have to hire some absolute screw ups for that to change I think...Where else can you, for as little as 8 Euros (two drinks and a Hash Joint) spend a mellow hour or more, play your little game ,hear good music ,be around fine people ,dig the view, even have a little goody or two sent your way by the proprietor ....I could go on ...

Would round off a top 3 with Hill St. at the Market and de Graal . Both quirky sort of places ,with fine staff and interesting patrons ...

downstairs space at de Graal

If I had to pick a 4th for this trip , would probably be Barneys on Reguliersgracht .

If I had to pick a shop I Didn't like ,it would be the Dampkring version of the old Pink Floyd .

Best Strains - The Hill St. Special , White Chocolate from Stix - just a buy and go that shop, too small for me ) , and Heaven Haze from Basjoe .

Heard some really weird music this year . Weirdest being a hip-hop remake of Crosby ,Stills and Nash - Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (heard at Easy Going- Haarlem)...What were they thinking ? !

...or how about "These boots are made for Walking" as a reggae tune.

May have heard the Monkees for the first time in a CS- Mellow Yellow .

Best music -The Jazz set at the Kadinskys near the Allard Pierson . Which ,except for that, and the upstairs window , a bit of a hole .
HSt.Blues consistently played music to my taste ...Sorry ,Don't know how to pigeonhole what they play , I am after all just a hillbilly , but it was fine by me . de Vrouw claims to have had an out of body experience at one point there ,carried away by some hypnotic beat ....Even out of body ,she won the Scrabble series 10-7...mostly played at Basjoe ...

The CSes didn't seem as full as in the past. There were times at places such as Basjoe , Katsu , Barneys, to name a few ,when we were it ...we were all . Granted that didn't last more than 10/15 minutes ,but still surprising .

Best place watch an Oranje Voetbal game - The Brink in Deventer .

's-Hertogenbosch has such a cool name ,and some fun places to see
Favorite shop there was Meetpoint

Was a great time living like a local ...kind of strange to look out the window onto dozens of peoples lives instead of the green mountains ...but would probably do it again next week ...

See ya around kitty
