Hello from Philadelphia, PA! See you in 3 days Amsterdam!

I'm coming over in 3 days and I can't wait! I've never been to Amsterdam but I'm going with a group that has been there many times in the past and I always hear great things from them about Amsterdam! I'm staying off of Derde Kostverlorenkade. I think we have a good spot to be around everything.

Just coming over for a nice over due vacation and to take in all of what Amsterdam has to offer. I love going to new places and taking in all of it's beauty. Coffee shops will be nice to check out and taste test as well! So if anyone can suggest some good places in the area I'm staying that would be great.

Also any good food in that general area that is a must please let me know! The group I'm going with know most of the places and we have a ton of stuff planned to do already but any and all suggestions to make the stay even better please post away! I can't wait to get over there! Glad you have this forum and glad I found it!

Here is a maybe odd question. In the morning I love oatmeal. Is that something I can find easy in Amsterdam or do I need to pack some? I hear the croissants are to die for in the morning for breakfast but oatmeal keeps me happy. Something kinda simple but I figured I'd ask!

V+D department store have the coolest euro "cafeteria", it is 3 levels with a great outdoor balcony.
Some of the freshest, best food in the city.
Pizza, stirfy, panninia, desserts etc etc.
Place is not to be missed and a great value.
It right across from the Flower market.

Yes, and probably easier to find in winter if at all. I know that it's very scarce here in Italy. Not near as easily available as in the states or elsewhere.
