i have to admit, that despite being a border line obsessive when it comes to weed and A'dam, i rarely ever smoke hash. and i will only do so, when a spectacular batch of something soft etc comes around, which is maybe once a year or less! i havnt bought any hash in a'dam for maybe 5 years or so.

however, i have been learing about the production of Bubble Hash recently, and i am going to try some next week or so when i go over to dam again.... but it got me thinking, i know so little about hash, and hash terminaology, i should just ask....

what is Kief?

what is polm?

what is skuff?

is there a difference between bubble hash and ice-o-lator?

why are some hashes dark and some light, and some inbetween?

is any of the Temple Balls for sale in 'Dam, really Temple balls... as in monk made stuff from nepal?

whats a good trick for choosing the better quality between two lumps when presented to you by the bud tender?

what is Kief?
kiff in morroco is a mix between cannabis flowers and wild black tobacco...
it's traditionnaly smoked in a sebsi pipe...
some people use this word to describe unpressed trichrome glands...

what is polm?
a short word for the trichrome glands... but it usualy refers to lightely pressed hashish (when the polm/trichrome glands haven't been broken)...

why are some hashes dark and some light, and some inbetween?
It depends on the way the trichromes were collected (seived (lighter) or hand rubbed (darker due to the oxydation of the broken trichromes), their natural color depending of the stage of flowering (from pale yellow to amber) and the way they are pressed together (using heat or not, the strengh involved)...

Have a nice day ! :D

That's a poser -- one I'm always confronted with when going into most shops. I think quality is difficult to ascertain purely by visual inspection. I usually ask the dealer to shape and mold the lump in question to demonstrate how pliable and hopefully, fresh, is the hash. If it shatters into dusty slivers, you have your answer. If it bends readily to expose glistening layers of squishy trichomes, then you have a promising beginning.

Beyond that I rely heavily on what I learn on this board. You could also try sniffing the hash but that's problematic given the practice of adding perfumes and other adulterants during the manufacture process.

when it comes i find it easier to checking it by burning a small end of it and smelling the smoke .. it usually gives me an idea of wat im dealing with of course i always ask permission before to this.

This thread is relevant to my interests.

I am going to Amsterdam for the second time in September. And the only ever times I smoked hash has been when other people have bought it.

So what should I look for in a hash?
Any cs's known for nice hash ranges? I remember last time I was there a few of the ones i went in only had a few on their menu.

Also, I'm not really sure how to roll with hash. From what i've seen heat the hash so its malleable and add to the mix? But my mate bought king hassan when we were in the dam in feb and he said he didn't have to heat it at all it just crumbled in his fingers.

As you can see my knowledge in hash is minimal, and help would be appreciated.

Also i want to roll a few js with hash and weed. But I take it it's rolled the same way just weed instead of baccy / baccy substitute?
