i'm from Greece and planning my first "real" trip to amsterdam this Friday (i've been there three times before but each time only for some hours, so didn't have time to "enjoy" it! :D )

Welcome, and have a great trip.
Read a few recent trip reports and some of the coffeeshop reviews would be your best bet.

i just want to double-check that you have read How not to get hit by a bike from the excellent S G Collins website recommended by FlyByNite

if you have already read the document, then thanks, but if not, then please please read before you arrive to ensure your safety in amsterdam traffic, and thanks

have a great trip ...

Hey man, I'm sure you will enjoy your Holiday over there, I highly recommend the reading, "How Not to get Hit by a Bike," even if you are not going, it's an entertaining read.

Some good advice in there, i think.

Enjoy,

If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

Oh god the dreaded bikes !!!! spin me out on every trip to Amsterdam. Just as you think your safe whoosh another from nowhere. Crossing roads can be highly amusing whist high but you got to be careful. If you think bikes are a nightmare what about the trams !!!! All part of the Amsterdam fun but god on the 3 trips ive been ive seen at least one person injured by a bike or tram. Keep a eye on the road !!!! :)
