Coffeeshops Close to Central Station?

Post by iRon »

High, everyone.

My question is probably been asked and answered before, but I can't find it, so I'll ask for myself.

I'm stopping in 'Dam for a couple of hours before I catch a train out of the city. I need recommendations for a good CS that's close to the station so I can buy some gear real fast and still catch the train!

Also, any tips about smoking (gear) on the train (like between the cars while the train is moving?) would be appreciated.

Here's the list of shops close to the Centraal Station. The ones I've already scoped out based on reviews have questions. Please comment on these if you have personal experience (good or bad):

Fancy Free..........( 0.2 km )..........reopened?
Central...............( 0.2 km )
Feels Good.........( 0.3 km )
Prix d'amis.........( 0.3 km )...prices?
Hunters Bar........( 0.3 km )
Rasta Baby.........( 0.3 km )
Interpolm............( 0.3 km )
Funny People.......( 0.3 km ).........prices?
Coffeeshop 36.....( 0.3 km )
Voyagers............( 0.3 km )
Alibaba..............( 0.3 km )
Coin..................( 0.3 km )
Pool Dog............( 0.3 km )
Rembrandt.........( 0.3 km )
Coin & Sower......( 0.3 km )
Het Oerwoud......( 0.4 km )
and what about Picasso? close enough to station? still a good shop?

Thanx!

The train is non-smoking so I wouldn't risk it, the majority have staff on as well.

Once you go to dam you will realise how stupid this question is.

There are probably over 100 shops located less than 5 minutes for dam hell probably 2 mins.

Try Greehouse, Dampkring, Green Place.

@ Boner: Thanx for this info.
@ bennybacker: with all due respect: "stupid" is NOT asking. What my reading has shown me is that even some tourist shops are a good deal, and maybe better for a first-timer than the all-Dutch shops. If I was just strolling around, I'd see where my legs would take me, but I've got a train to catch so I can't be too fucked up. Just need some gear for the road and a gentle smoke for the train ride.

I don't want to walk around with my backpack, are there lockers in the Centraal Station that are big enough to store my stuff for a couple of hours?

Where to start?

Since you have a couple of hours, why would you need to buy some gear real fast and still catch the train? Me thinks something is afoot. Freudian slip perhaps?

Smoking on a train. Seriously? Here's a tip, just don't do it. Just another example of how cannabis smokers are their own worst enemy. Read literature on fines and penalties imposed on those who break the law by smoking cigarettes on trains, now imagine what they will do to you when you get caught smoking weed or hash?

Yes there are and they're 100% safe, probably cost you less than €5.

Additional comment about smoking on trains (in Europe):

I use the trains almost exclusively for travel throughout Europe and the last thing I or anyone else wants is for the authorities to step up their anti-drug operations (drug dogs, physical/baggage search). Total fucking hassle.

Seriously, smoke-out before getting on the train, then kick back and enjoy the ride.

You have a couple of hours not minutes !!!!!!

Remember the machines at central station don't take cash only card.

Ps apology accepted when you get back now chill and enjoy your trip.
