Air BnB

Here is a cool site where people post their apartments and/or rooms for rent. Great searching system. Places state clearly where you can smoke or not. Will be using this when I go in the beginning of August.

Has anyone used this site before. I went to it and it looks pretty good with the reviews and all that. Wondering if anybody had some good review or experiences they want to share
Cause the idea really isn't bad and looks to be nice and affordable in alot of cases.

Not used the site but remember that the accommodations are individually owned. Regardless of the reviews you might find for the site it may not reflect your experience. I would read the reviews on the site and then do a search for the specific apartment/room. That said there are several rental agencies in Amsterdam. Have a look through the Hotels board.

Sorry to drag this one back from the past...

I just stumbled across this place, thanks to this posting, and it looks like a really good site - and very affordable too. I am looking for an apartment for four people, and it has provided me with some really good choices. I have contacted a few of the owners, and am waiting to hear back.

Another site I have looked at is iStopOver, which looks very similar to airbnb.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these sites, since the original discussion was started?

Thanks

I have used Air BNB and found a great place in Paris and looked into it when last we were in Amsterdam but ended up staying at a hotel instead. It is a good site but some of the entries are not actually individuals but agencies that have separate sites as well.

The sites noted if you search the forum threads are all reliable, etc. and have a multitude of listings you can specify by location, rate, etc. Just make sure to read the fine print since not all are smoker friendly.
