Glastonbury in Somerset is less than 30 minute drive away from me. Technically the festival is held at the fields near Pilton, but it's always been called Glastonbury festival despite not being in Glastonbury.
Some friends used to go all the time years ago. Back then it was better as you could easily jump the fence and was more or less a free for all and was in a way, accepted as such. It's got way too commercialised these days and nothing like it used to be and Michael Eavis, a farmer with initiative, has made a mint from Worthy farm.
Personally, I don't think the ticket price is expensive as if you add up each and individual act you could see, it would be far more than the price of the overall ticket and you get to see all the top acts and so much more.
The best all time acts I've seen has to be Underworld and the Verve.
