VISA Electron in coffeeshops

Hey,
I'm going to Amsterdam tomorrow and there is still a question i could not answer. I have a VISA Electron credit card, which can present issues in some shops.
I have already read that payments are ok with this card in "big" shops, but I didn't find anything concerning coffeeshops.
If someone has already used an electron card in a coffeeshop, please tell me
Thanks !

I'm almost certain coffeeshops are cash only. Someone will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong.
Peace,
Balou

Thanks for the quick replies ! Yeah i was planning to take money with me but the question was how many.
The problem shines to be solved, cause cash machines means big fees !
Thanks again

I have been in a shop and seen someone pay by card, i remember thinking at time that it was unusual to see as its so uncommon. Cant remember what shop it was though
I use cash all the way in Amsterdam, they dont seem to use card payments as much as here in UK. I find you get hit with charges for using a card abroad anyway.

you saying that , i think there is a thread on here , maybe in the TR's that shows a pic of a receipt/statement with a CS on it .

From experience it's cash only in coffeeshops and 75% of shops & resturants will only except cash aswell. I always take cash with me and leave it locked up in the safe and a debit card for emergencies. If I am out all day/night I just take enough out for that day and spread the cash around my body e.g under garment money belts and a man bag with a shed load of zipped compartments in. My wife says I go overkill when it comes to money security, but I have been to Amsterdam/Nederlands 45 times and not once have I had money taken from me.

Yeah tdw121270, but for me the problem is that i'm located at a camping, and there is no safe there, i asked them on the phone...
I wish they had some !

What campsite are you staying at mate?. Zeeburg Camping Have safes. Hope your not staying at vliegenbos cos they're a bunch of nazis (They are very rude and don't particulary like people smoking weed on thier site.
