It was very good to meet you a few times although the loner seats in the Dampkring was probably not the best choice.

Congrats and all the best in your venture. 8)

Tutti- it is so great to hear how awesome your life is and how much you're enjoying expat life. (I moved to Switzerland from the U.S. two years ago and it has been great for my mr and I as well.)

I think it's awesome that you opened a Ukulele shop! I'm sure you've heard Eddie Vedder's Ukulele Songs by now http://youtu.be/c7D17IpTTz8, but on the off chance you have not, I can unreservedly recommending the album- it's really cool.

I am going to be in the dam on a short trip Sept 3-5, and I would love to meet up for a toke and talk.

Best,

Amy (Geeky Monkey)

It's same in UK, you can be charged with posession if it's found in your blood. A law that never get's used though, my guess is most countries the same.

I hadn't heard that, although I'd believe it as they're pretty rigid about enforcement of any and all laws. However, occasional recreational marijuana use (and outdoor cultivation) are pretty common here. (Not nearly as common as rampant cocaine usage among the bankers, but that's a whole discussion for another time.)

It's expensive though (like$500/almost 400 Euro for a 24 gram ounce), and much of the street dealing is done through immigrants, who are extremely hassled by police. Also, they recently passed a federal law that makes deportation an automatic penalty for dealing (although it's not in enforcement yet and may never be from what I hear.)

However, possession for personal consumption is basically tolerated, as is cultivation of a plant or two for personal consumption, although those things are not defined and therefor at a judge's discretion to determine, which is always risky if you are a foreigner, as there is general dislike of and discrimination against ausslanders. Pot used to be legal in a lot of cantons, but they made it illegal by federal referendum, and it was the fact that switzerland did not want to be/become a location for drug tourism, leading to more foreigners here, rather than a real distaste for pot that led to them making it illegal.)

(The caveat being that this is how it is in my swiss-german canton, this varies a lot from area to area as very few laws and policies are made at the federal level here.)

Probably too much information, but that's just how I roll.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Exactly cisco, the legal change happened in 2002ish. There are a lot of really good growers around too- top quality here is absolutely on par with top quality in Amsterdam, but supply is trickier, especially if you are foreign.
