Hi again. -Hitting Amsterdam the 11'th of August

Post by Kamikaze »

So, I'll be walking the streets of Amsterdam (well, the airport) for the first time at 9 o'clock in the evening on the 11'th of August and are going to stay for 5 days.
Have been wanting to go there for years but haven't been able to afford it, finally did but it's still going to be a budget trip.
As this is a coffee shop directory I'm sure most people won't be surprised to learn that I am going there this time mainly to hit the coffeeshops and try out as many different strains of my favorite herb as possible.
Now don't get me wrong I would really like to see all the museums and take all the tours but I honestly can't afford both and I badly need the opportunity to relax and have a smoke and just wander around Amsterdam looking at the weird slanted buildings and canals, stopping at coffee shops here and there and maybe grabbing a few games of chess while I am at it.

My story goes like this, I started out smoking at pretty young age (16) getting my hands on good product and keeping a healthy smoking habit with some good friends and being generally social and productive for several years.
Later I had to move to another part of Norway (yeah, that's where I live) and got into contact with some seedy company to aquire some smokeables and even though I tried not to mingle with them it proved hard as you need a friendly relationship with your dealer to not get ripped of.
I developed bad smoking habits and wrecked my schooling because of it and generally started going down the wrong track so I decided that enough was enough and stopped cold turkey so to speak, locking myself inside for 2 months straight playing videogames to have something else to think about.
I have barely had a smoke for 2 years, and the few times I did the product was so bad that it made me ill more then high (which is generally the normal quality of hash up here, hash being almost the only thing you get and not what i prefer), i don't drink and I generally cut of most of my old contact to try and get my life together which seems to be getting back on track now although being a bit anti-social.

So now that I finally got things back together again I have decided to go to the Dam and get that smoke that i have been holding of on for 2 years, hoping to meet some likeminded mellow people that you can actually talk to about interesting topics and that actually has intelligent things to say in return.

Now i am painfully aware that I am probably going to be pretty dumb founded for the first 2 days as i haven't smoked anything for 2 years and therefore might not be the best of conversationalists but I am expecting that to wear of quickly... hopefully :P

Anyhow, now you know my story as far as i am willing to give it so if anyone happends to be in Amsterdam around the time I hit and might be interested in a toke and talk as this other fellow called it, some random walking around Amsterdam and maybe a game of chess I would enjoy the company.
Oh and if any old timers or locals had the time or interest to show me the "cheaper" places to buy some smokeables, a cheap glass pipe for the stay and the cheapest local supermarkets that would be absolutely mind blowingly nice of you ^^

So if anyone finds this proposition interesting give me a shout out on this thread as I'll be watching it like a hawk until i leave seeing as the days suddenly started going painfully slowly XD

Oh, and if age matters to people I can say that I am still in my early 20's

Pauli Wallnuts: I'll do that if I can find it :P

Btw, if anybody else hitting the Dam around the same time as me are having the same kind of budget restriction, we might get together about buying different strains to find which one we actually want to buy more of without all having to buy a gram or so of every type on our own.

i just want to double-check that you have read How not to get hit by a bike from the excellent S G Collins website recommended by FlyByNite

if you have already read the document, then thanks, but if not, then please please read before you arrive to ensure your safety in the crazy amsterdam traffic, and thanks

Well yeah, I have read most of it, not the entire history part as I'd like to take that part when I can afford a guided tour of the city, perhaps by canal boat.
As far as dangerous traffic, pickpockets and general criminal activity I have observed my fare share in my time, both in Norway and while living in Spain and let me tell you, the traffic in Spain is much the same only the cars take up the role that the bicycles do in the Dam so I come prepared ^^

I expect to get "creamed" by a cyclist at some point but honestly though, that's just part of the fun in my opinion, maybe it'll be a cute local female if I am really lucky :)

Either way I have a tendency to take things as they come (what is is, and all that), the good with the bad and all so I expect it to go well overall, but thanks for your concerns :)
