Hi everyone just wondered if anyone can tell me if weed is safe to smoke while im taking morphine (prescribed for back pain) cos my doc put me on morph today and not sure about whether it is safe for me to carry on smoking while im taking it as the smoking definitely helps with the pain. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers guys

Hi mate , what dose have they given you ?
What are your tolerance levels like ?
Have you told your doc that you puff?

Due to her disabilities morphine is 1 of the meds my wife takes , she takes 180mg per day, some days that just enables her to sit up in bed sort of comfortably.
She LOVES a nice indica ,her recent fav was bubblegum , really does help dull the pain that little bit more , doesn't help movement of course  .
If you trust your doc , talk to them our doc is well aware that we both smoke , when told his words were , well seeing as you both smoke tobacco anyway , cannabis wont damamge you anymore than the baccy already is & it WILL help with her pain.

Good luck mate , hope it's a tempory prob & not long term :-)

edit--- can't remember her having any adverse effects from smoking while on morphine , but each person can of course react differently .

I am not a doctor but play one on  Weed will not interfere with your morphine and might help with the nausea, after my back surgery I experienced nausea from the morphine ended up using Vicodin, still use codeine and weed.

well thanks for your advice. I am ecstatic to hear that smokin is ok with my medication. At the moment im on oramorph supposed to be up to 80mg a day but more realistically i am using double that. Its for a long standing back issue and my doc doesnt know about my smoking hobby he isnt the sort who would be ok with that so decided its best to not tell him. I find the indica strains best for 2 reasons. 1. They get me absolutely wrecked and 2. They really help with the pain. So once again thanks for your help/advice im gonna go and get sum weed and give it a go. Should be interesting lol :-)

just remember oramorph can be very addictive- many a junky on methadone started on dihydrocodine or oramorph for back pain. Would not encourage you to see it as a pleasure thing as it could take you places you dont want to go.
