Good catch Pauli. Fookin details will get ya every time.Pauli Wallnuts wrote:plug those gaps around the rim of the pot, just push the edges of the soil/coco fibre down with your fingers
Definitely don't want dry rot and other possible root maladies, not to mention that most of the water would probably flow right out of the bottom. You do have drainage holes, correct?
When I look at my grow pics, I pick up certain things that I didn't pay much attention to at the time, like how the level of the soil dropped nearly two inches from when I started. I realize that this occurs naturally, it's just one of the small things that makes growing your own a little more interesting.
Keep up the good work.

Good luck, once they set in they're really difficult to get rid of, you may want to break your grow down once you're done and give it a good clean (probably with bleach), have a look at something like this: http://www.growell.co.uk/p/0413/Natural ... ites-.html your local garden centre may have them.
Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
They are looking real good, contrary to your stated problem with spider mites.
I have experienced a minor infestation of white flies and resolved the issue by finding and removing the egg clusters. A pain in the ass but it had to be done. I suggest, and you will find most will agree, cut off any leaves and branches (gasp) that are infested. Better to lose one or two branches than the whole plant or crop. If this doesn't resolve the problem, you may have to resort to using chemicals, oh boy. Be extremely cautious when using chemicals, one fuck-up and it's all over.

Good luck.

ye ,, before they take hold ,, get yourself some predator mites ,, worth the investment ,, they will irradicate all spider mites within a week or so,, problem is they will soon die off from starvation because the two spotted mites is all they eat .. actually that is just the persimillis ,, other predatory mites work but not as fast and will eat each other when hungry ..Boner wrote:Good luck, once they set in they're really difficult to get rid of, you may want to break your grow down once you're done and give it a good clean (probably with bleach), have a look at something like this: http://www.growell.co.uk/p/0413/Natural ... ites-.html your local garden centre may have them.
