how do you get spider mites ? iv heard mostly from trading clones ? will you still get them if you dont do that ? would it be advisable to use the hot shot things as a preventative ?
cheers

all of the above, just going outside...if ya dont have em dont worry...what hot shot does is kill them, and it fucks up any eggs that are about...takes care of a few others too...i would always keep a yellow fly strip around...for the bigger things

@ Boner , I read today that predator mites shouldn't be introduced if the plants are alredy flowering , any thoughts ??
@ DUR , cheers mate , a grower friend has suggested removing the affected leaves & branches , if I am sure they are the only 1's . i'll be giving them a long look over once the kids are in bed .
@USBL , cheers mate i'm having a look now , seem bloody good

trying to work out where to get them .
@ anyone

also read that giving the plants a blast with a shower hose might help ?? again any thoughts ?? i'd be taking them 1 at a time into our wetroom.
also read about Tanglefoot , but my searching keeps leading me to a Canadian Band

any Uk people help me with this
Thanks for all the suggestion people , much appreciated

I liked the sound of no pest strips, until I started having a look online where to get em and came across a few pages like this
http://www.jimhightower.com/node/1786
and this
http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-growi ... mites.html
I'm not a biologist but if the plants take up any ddvp that can't be good can it? does anyone know cause they sound like they do the job a treat

No idea mate, luckily I haven't had the problem yet so I've never looked that far into them, good to know though.
Something I would consider is ladybirds/bugs as I know they eat spidermites, Soma uses them according to his grow book.

first of all the strips should be in yer grow(veg) room..never under any circumstance spray chems or put any death things in yer bloom(flower) room...the object is to wipe the mites out before 12/12,so they dont feed on yer buds..once the mites are gone..in my case a little over 3 weeks,ya take it and put it in a ziplock bag,if they reaapear,retreat..so far so good on my end,the bud show no sign of taste change or toxins....and yer final flush should eleiminate everything...good luck

Not sure about spraying/dousing the plants with water, never tried it. Seems you are thinking ahead with a wet room, whatever that is. I'll figure it out, eventually.

Definitely clean, read sterilize, your grow area as best as possible before putting the plants back in. Don't forget to replace the filter of any device that uses them, the little buggers may live or have nested there as well. Man this sucks ass big time.
Boner has a good idea about lady bugs, especially since the plants are flowering. NO CHEMICALS, full stop, ala USBL. Whew, sorry about that, I don't want you to accidentally fuck-up and kill your 'girls', I don't think you do either.
Keep us posted.
Good luck m8.

lady bugs dont work . they move on quite quickly ,, they arent looking for no tiny little spider mites ,, they like aphids and soft biggies like them.. if you select predators,, the persimilis works very well but will die off once they eat all the spider mites ..
I want to try some of those pest strips ,, gotta be some good shit if the assholes banned it here in Canada..
I have had to deal with some real serious mite issues in the past ,, successfully I will add ,, but it can become very distressing and something that simply works by sitting in the room sounds too sweet to me ,, I`m willing to take chances,,. holy shit ,, read some of the disclaimers on the meds some of us have to take .. If it means pest free bud growth ,, that is what I want.. and from all testemonials I have read ,, it doesn`t affect the taste and quality .. I am thinking they are probably the same little strips that had always been used in cottages and trailer homes and around the garages and homes for many many years without issue ,, I can remember coming down into a party my parents were having while my mom was preg with my little brother ,, could hardly see for ciggy smoke and all were just drinking away ,, oh but it was ok back then ...

@ Modesta you can get them from amazon.com they'd probably ship to canada, about $6.
