Has anyone been to Texel? What is it like?

I'd have done the same question. With google street view I looked at some parts of it and it appears to be a very relaxing place quite similar to me to some landscapes in Ireland

My friend ( a Dutchman) went to Texel in the month of September a few years ago for his honeymoon.
He chose it for it's natural beauty, tranquility and to relax.
Both him and his wife had a great time and comes thoroughly recommended. He told me it is one of those unspoilt places the Dutch like to keep quiet about so they can enjoy it for themselves !
Can be chilly though so wrap up well - or take someone with you to warm you up.

I have no helpful additions to this discussion but you can try Texel's Finest from Kashmir Lounge! Might help your decision lol :D

We absolutely loved Texel. It was just what we needed, some time away from the city with plenty of animals, wildlife and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend.

To get there you take a 90 minute train ride to Den Helder, then a 20 minute ferry ride. The island is not small so once you get there a bus (they take the OV chipcard) will take you to one the towns.

We stayed in de Cocksdorp, which is a smallish town on the opposite end from the ferry terminal. Winding bus ride of about one hour.

The island is a bike paradise...however next time I think we will rent a scooter. It is just very far between the towns and if you want to see a lot of things the bike is too slow (plus too much work LOL).

Was not looking for a coffeeshop but did not see one either.

First set, the train and ferry ride:
