Nice one, I was considering starting a thread about this vape, as not many people seem to know about it. This isn't helped by the fact that there isn't a proper European distributor, I got mine sent from the USA (took less than a week mind you)

I've had mine for a couple of months now, plenty of time to get to know it. Feel free to ask me anything about it...

What I like:
- VERY small (even smaller than it looks in photos)
- ultimate stealth (fits into your hand, possible to use in public places)
- silent operation
- its very fast, takes about 5 seconds to warm up. If you've preloaded the weed, you can pull out the vape, take a hit, and put it away again, all within 20-30 seconds. Absolutely ideal if you need a THC boost at work, on the train etc.
- no butane
- lifetime warranty
- uses rechargeable AA batteries, so the power source is infinitely expandable
- quite affordable
- design is very smart, made from wood instead of plastic, doesn't really look like 'paraphernalia'

Don't like:
- doesn't work well with hash, it tends to melt and clog the screen
- the small size means you have to refill it more often, although this is to be expected from a portable vape
- can't think of any other bad points!

Heres a good thread for anyone considering one:
http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=909

That thread is currently at 166 pages, and is pretty much always bumped to the top. Very popular vape on that site. I had never heard of it before, but saw how many people were talking about it and thought I should investigate. Glad I did, I'm totally satisfied with this unit.

Couple of photos I posted previously, vaping kief in the Launch Box:

Thanks for the reply dude , im sure they may have sorted a European distibutor as i found some for sale

http://vaporlot.com/portable-vaporizers ... 21a5b0984e

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAGIC-FLIGHT-LAUN ... 0630670503

not sure how reliable they are though ? yeah i had a good look through that vape forum . Who did you purchase yours from ? it may be worth me contacting the maker to ask if they have official retailers in europe

be careful buying one on Ebay, unless you are sure its the latest model. Recently they added an LED light and probably some other improvements too. The LED is really useful to tell when the batteries are dead.

It seems totally reliable to me, there are no moving parts or anything really to go wrong. If you dropped it, I think the plexiglass cover could break quite easily though.

I bought mine from Blissville.com - everything was quick and easy.

I'll be heading out to the Dam soon and was hoping to pick one of these when I get there to use for my stay. Does anyone know if the shops there are carrying this? Wasn't sure if this is only like a US item or not.

I still haven't seen any around the Dam, but you should check with the manufacturer to be sure. Maybe they've sorted a distributor by now.

I saw one on the table in one of Titus's trip photo's, was that yours Bleak :?:
They still seem a bit expensive at the moment, about £80.00.

Happy Trails
What a long strange trip it is.

Those are good alternatives for the money... there are a few things to keep in mind though.

The design of the Vapor Genie means you are inhaling virtually ALL of the lighter fumes/burnoff. And then holding those fumes in your lungs for 5-10 seconds along with the vapor. I've got a Vapor Star, its a similar design where you're forced to inhale the lighter fumes along with with the vapor. After 6 months I noticed I was getting sore throats from it. I think it was the lighter fumes, as the sore throats disappeared when I changed to a Launch Box.

Theres also the question of flavour. If I'm vaping expensive Amsterdam buds, I don't want to taste burned butane (you do taste it)

The Eagle Bill type vaporizers avoid the problem of directly inhaling the lighter fumes. But you still have to use a lighter to heat it up. I've done the home-made Eagle Bill, using a light bulb. The home made version is pretty much identical to the commercial product (glass bulb, plastic mouthpiece). It works ok, but its very fiddly to hold the lighter under the glass. You have to hold it just at the right distance, just for the right amount of time. If you hold the flame there too long, or too close, the weed burns. You have to use both hands and give your complete attention to what you're doing. It quickly becomes a real pain in the ass to use. My verdict on this kind of vape - Ok if you're low on cash and want to try vaping for the first time.

If any portable vaporizer depends on a lighter, that means you can't really use it in public. Unless you don't mind everyone thinking you're smoking crack. Maybe thats not an issue for everyone, but I bought a portable vaporizer specifically because I wanted to use it in public, on the train, in the park etc. I also use it at home in front of the computer. The MFLB can be used one handed, so I can still keep my other hand on the mouse/keyboard to keep working. You just hold it up to your mouth and breath in.

I wish I'd tried it when you offered it to me Bleak.

I find the Volcano's a bit of a pain, they take a while to get ready, and then if you don't take the whole bag pretty quickly the vapour goes stale and choking. This seems to get rid of both of those probs...

For a year or so now I've been using an Iolite both for my health and for convenience. Of course it has it's limitations but generally it's great and if you give a second or two after the heating then the hit is good and tasty. Certainly my next buy will be a Magic Flight though.
What a long strange trip it is.

I use the Iolite, too. But the MFLB seems too be much quicker ready for use. Is the vape hot or cold when you inhale
that directly? How many spare batteries do you have to carry? I think one charge lasts only for two fillings. :?:

Yes its fast, takes about 5 seconds until its ready. The vapor is warm on your tongue.

You're right, one charge lasts around 1-2 'bowls'. But each bowl gives you up to 10 hits, depending on how good the weed is. I carry 3 batteries, is enough for me. If I was going camping for a few days or something, I might need more batteries.

Cool, finally!!! Maybe soon I'll see some other Launch Boxes around. So far I have not seen one single unit apart from my own.
