Nah, they never get hot on the outside (either the wood or the plastic cover). I'm not worried about plastic fumes, because the plastic cover is raised from the heating element, and also because the hot air/vapor doesn't pass by the plastic. Its a bit hard to explain without looking at one, but the air comes through the back, and passes underneath the screen, collecting the vapor, and goes directly to your mouth. This is unlike most other vapes, where the fresh air always goes through the screen from the top.
You're right, everyone DOES like them... Its almost impossible to find a bad review (apart from a couple of first time users who 'don't get it', or people who don't like vapes anyway)]
