You CAN be detained for cannabis possesion in NL

Post by Marco »

Hoping this can save someone else from the trouble my 'friend' went through.

Went to a music festival in Utrecht. The website said 'no drugs' but my friend assumed that did not include cannabis. Since he was invited by one of the DJs and was on the guestlist, my friend brought 4 grams to share.

At the gate there were searching everyone, down to their wallet and shoes. Wanting to get in with minimal hassle, my friend showed the security the weed, assuming it would not be a problem.

So he was detained for 2 hours by security. The POLICE (yes) were called. They came, ran his name and gave him a little lecture. They would have taken action (not sure what) if there had been more than 5 grams.

The asshole security guards threw him out (before he even got in) took the weed, a pipe and a little device for rolling joints.

"He" was on his way home on the next bus, pissed and a bit humiliated. Did not enjoy being detained!

Even called the head of the festival who tried to get my friend in, but security would not budge.

So, be careful out there. It can happen, even here!

Lesson learned: Crotch it
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

or get some shoes with a hidden pocket or make one of your own if your bent on bringing it in. if it says no drugs prob best to not bring them in.

That's crazy though, I mean they allow you to purchase it. They 'tolerate' it being sold on a commercial level (businesses / coffeeshops selling it) but, then you can suffer consequences because of purchasing it? That's stupid, I mean in the U.S. they seem to make their priority the 'big fish' (the source) and they use the lower fish to turn over the big fish. So, what exactly is being accomplished here by trying to detain/scare/punish some 'low fish' person that went and bought it at a place where everybody is turning a blind eye?

i mean does that make any sense? the gov is turning a blind eye 'tolerating' it being sold but, the customer the one that paid money for it is being punished? Is weed taxed in NL? so, he pays the money for it and if it's taxed the gov gets paid but, then this person gets punished? What kind of bullshit is this?
