4:20:2007 Hotel OR Apartment

Post by Rez »

Hi all,

Recently Twitch set up a poll (Clickety Click) with regard to sharing an apartment for 4:20:2007

I also set up a poll (Clickety Click) asking who woulod be in Amsterdam for 4:20:2007

This new thread follows on from Twitch's with regard to sharing an apartment.

Twitch's poll revealed that 6 members voted "yes" ... from the replies, I have the list as:

1: Twith
2: Redeye
3: Pharcyde
4: Valo
5: Myself
6: Who?

So, we need to decide (yes I know it's really early to be doing all this but, fuck it man, lets get organised) how many poeple are actually up for this apartment share and how many just like the idea but would probably find it easier to book a hotel.

With regard to cost, It will work out cheaper to rent an apartment and split the cost BUT, the biggest problem I see is that most places have a master bedroom with a double/queen size bed & en suite and 2 or 3 twin rooms.

I have no objection to sharing a room (twin beds) in an aprtment with anybody (we are all grown ups and there top party so I'm not too fussed about much else) BUT, I don't know how we could go about this without 2 poeple in sharing a room??

Those that are "in" do you mind sharing a twin room and bathroom facilities with other house mates ?

I'm more than happy to research and source a place (I know Twitch is also actively looking - cheers man) but unless we are all clear about how it will work it might be easier to go for hotel....

So, what do we do... It might also be an idea for 2 groups to rent smaller places near by ??

I just thought the whole idea of having a big base where we all could hang/party at our lesiure would be pretty cool...

i may have been the 6th yes vote, not sure....

don't count on me at this point because the 4/20 trip is not very likely for me.
good luck with getting something sorted.

also wanted to add that alot of the apartments i was lookin at said they could separate the queen/double beds in the master.....just something to keep in mind.

made me smile... I have been switching between these two threads and what with looking at other sites too I simply don't know my ass from my elbow right now.

Thanks also for the advise regarding bed splitting.

Would be cool to see you... :(

Apart from saving the money, there are plenty of other factors to consider when sharing an apartment that puts me off the idea the more I think about them.

What happens with keys? Does everyone have their own set? Would be a lot of hassle setting that up if people are arriving in Amsterdam on different days and then they only stay in the apartment for a couple of days. People coming and going at all times of the day and night as well.

There's the social thing as well. I might as well let you know that I snore (especially when intoxicated in some way) and I also take bloody ages in the shower/getting ready.

Are the apartments "serviced" like hotel rooms?

The security of myself and my belongings always goes to the top of the list whenever I plan a holiday and the renting/sharing of an apartment isn't exactly "ticking all the boxes" at the moment.

Good point there Doog regarding keys... It's all too easy to get carried along with the excitement, only 9 months to go...

Keys should be managable, Im sure you could get 2 sets without any trouble and its not like we will be wandering around alone all day.

I might go on about GHE a bit too much but I just happened to be browsing for apartments and found myself looking at GHE. They look smaller than some I have seen but funky.

Urban Chill - Sleeps 4 in 4 beds

Uptown - Sleeps 6 in 5 Beds

Lounge Suite - Sleeps 3 in 3 beds

City Oasis - 4 in 4

Global Fusion - 4 in 4

I say red, that Urban Chill place is looking good man... and for Thurs 19/Fris 20/Sat 21/ & Sun 22/07 it £420 odd for the place, thats like £100 each (4 share, 4 single beds)... sounds even better like that.

shareing

Post by Twitch »

When we rented our apt. in May we were counted as 3 couples and each was given a key. I have to admit my only experience w/renting was this trip and we payed alot for very nice extra large apt. w/three bedrooms etc. Have looked at all the GHE and while they are cheap they don't meet requirements of own room etc. in anyway I can see. I have to admit my wife is fussier about this stuff and I am going to discuss possibility of sharing w/others for awhile in whaever they decide rent and getting another for when wife and friend return. Open to any and all suggestions ( other than go to hell and things of that nature  )

You won't get anything like that from us Twitch...We're all doing our best to make sure 4/20/07 goes well in every aspect.

It's just a shame we have such a long wait until the big day.

I've e-mailed lovingamsterdam.com about THIS apartment which has 1 double bed and 4 single beds in 3 bedrooms. 3 of the singles are in one room. €1368 on their website is €228 each for 6 pees (£156)... I'de pay (at the very least) the same as this if not more for a single hotel room... I know where I'de rather be

My e-mail said :

Hi,

I'm looking for an apartment for 3 nights - Thus 19 / Fri 20 / Sat 21 April 2007. I have read about and like the look of 1396 Monniken - Straat 3 Bed Apartment.

Can you confirm if this apartment is available on these dates and if so, what the cost would be for 5 possibly 6 (possibly mixed sex) adults? Also is this and are your other advertised apartments "smoker" friendly ?

Kind regards
"I laughed so hard I nearly had a whitey"
