Hi folks, anyone know of any cheap of reasonably priced hotels in Amsterdam at present?
All the places i seem to encounter are very expensive. I know its peak time in several places, especially in Europe. But there must be some places hidden out there. can anyone shed any light please?

Hiya Mate.. well that's Amsterdam for you Over Priced. have you thought about using a cabin at a campsite (i love them) but there 15 mins on a tram and 10 mins walk. if you want a cheap hotel how cheap would you want it to be? smoking allowed ? in the heart of Amsterdam or dont really care? im staying at the old quarter next trip opposite one of my fav coffeeshops Hunters. 35 euros a night for single room including breakfast, smoking in rooms seems ok. and its in the heart of Amsterdam. basic but clean room. there are lots to choose from in the hotels section..good luck..

Hey Stu1976,
Is the bar, Old Nickel, affiliated with the hotel, Old Quarter? Do you know if they let you smoke in the Old Nickel? Thx.

Hotel Groenendael on the Nieuwiendijk has been my usual place for the last few years and might be worth enquiring about. €35 a night and a little over five minutes walk from Centraal Station, it's cheap, very basic, but it does the job and there's breakfast thrown in as well.

Titus both are smoker friendly with breakfast and I believe are alot alike but not affiliated.
Don't forget to check Hotel Abba very smoker friendly with Albert downstairs and tram stop right out front. Only a short walk to Vondel and leidseplein.
