turn right, flail arms above head, and run straight to Stubbe Haring for a fish with a dutch flag stuck in it.

Shortly followed by one or more of Siberie, Rokerij, Doors, or Picasso.

i head to the right, towards haarlemerstraat because i usu arrive @ Central Station between 750 and 840, so a solid brekky (barney's) is in order, along with some top gear scored at (newer) dampkring. from there i head down the herengracht to grab amnesia haze @ amnesia, unless i am hell bent on starting my dam trip off with the amnesia haze, IF that can outlast my hunger jones after a transaltantic flight.

even after 13 trips, I agree with the poster who feels the stir of those excited/anxious butterflies upon exiting central station....though now happy, welcoming butterflies!

Depends on my time of arrival and where I'm staying. Last April Blueberry and I got a shuttle from the airport to the corner of the Singel and Harlemmerstraat because it was before 7 am. Went to Barney's and then to visit a friend who lives near there. Normally I go to 420, Green Place and Basjoe when I first get in if it's not too early. After the junk I've bought at Central, I'll never go back there again.

as the vast majority of my trips have been early arrivals, i usually head straight out, to the top of damrak, and then head dead right, pass rastababy, past rokerij/bulldog/doors and through haarlemerstraat to barneys

ahhh good times :D

can't stand walking with luggage so a taxi trip from and to CS on the first and last day :)

i'll usually rent a bike for a week or so to negotiate A'dam ... feet get tired fast, but not my legs i guess.
