i know everybody says "you must use soil for a first grow to get to know how things work". Meaning u will learn from your first couple grows that fuck up!. So what im thinking is why dont i just make same mistakes on the hydro setup? whats everybodys thoughts on this? or can anybody tell me why its better to start off with soil?

That Wilma set up can be used with soil anyway but I dont see why you should go with soil as your first time at growing, if you're going down the hydro route then I'd suggest a ph pen and an ec pen are must haves, if you get it let me know how you get on as I've always liked the look of it I'm just too tight to rebuy lots of equipment when theres nothing wrong with what I already have, good luck.

I've grown outdoors and indoors using either soil or a pre-mix, but I have yet to experiment with hydro. I personally think that a hydro system is too much of a hassle for me to deal with given my consumption rate.

If it is your intent to always grow using the hydro method, then by all means learn that system. Much of what you would learn from growing with soil/mix is the same as hydro - proper nutrients, pest control, etc... With hydro there are obvious differences, so again I say why bother, at least for now. When the opportunity arises, give soil a try. Could be a nice experiment in comparing which is the better smoke. 8)

Good luck and happy farming.

Wilmas are okay and do the job, Soil or coco i would mix 50/50 with perlite (EVEN IF IT IS IN IT). The pots get bogged down with the dripping. Also i would get a minute timer for the pump (Drip 6 times a day for 4mins each  )

I dont rate the pump and the dripper bars are pretty crap but can easily be swapped at a later date. I would swap for a MJ1000 pump, bit of 13mm pipe, 13mm inline filter, and a topspin 12 (13mm). 3 stakes per pot.

Oh and an air pump and air stone always works a treat, also keep an eye on the resevoir as it emptys quick as fuck when the plants start putting it on.

TBH after reading what i wrote i would just go and buy a dutch dripper kit (13mm) it will piss all over it.
