Not going to the Dam (again)

5th to 9th Sept.
Will be staying in Haarlem this time.

Why?

i) to finish things I didn't do last time
ii) visit more CS
iii) fit around other arrangements. Would have liked to have gone later in the month, but I'm already booked for other stuff

So plan this time:

- do Haarlem fully. StBavos, Teylers, Frans Hals and more CS. Went to Willie Wortel's Sensi and Sativa and was a bit disappointed, so want to try some others.

- revisit Den Haag to do Mauritshuis, Mesdag panorama. I still think Den Haag is a cool place to hang out.

- do Texel for sure, unless the weather is really crap. Being in Haarlem puts me about 45 mins closer by train, so I can more easily make a full day of it.

- optionally go to Alkmaar - plenty of peeps recommend it.

- possibly do a half day mission to selected CS in the Dam. Still thinking about this.

Would be happy to meet for T+T one evening if anyone is in the above towns at that time. Bear in mind I'm a lightweight and smoke tobacco, so a single pure g spliff will have me on my back

OK, so I'm off tomorrow, will be there Sun 5th to Thurs 9th, staying in Haarlem.

I've firmed up my plans a bit, and they seem ambitious, but here goes:

Sun - get checked in, visit Teyler's or Frans Hals. Tour the CS that might be open and that I didn't visit last time.

Mon - just figured out museums close on Monday, so I'll just hang out. Plan to go to Leiden in the pm.

Tue - Texel day trip. Being in Haarlem puts me a bit closer timewise than last time, so it should be easier to get there in time to make a day of it. Marco's thread on Texel swung it for me, and only a hurricane will put me off (which it may if the remnants of Earl arrive this side of the pond).

Wed - Alkmaar. I think half a day should be enough for this place - it seems small and has only 5 CS. For the pm, and after much deliberation, I'm planning a seek and destroy mission to the Dam.
Having read many rave reviews, I want to visit de Pijp (esp Yo-Yo) and possibly drop into Anyday to see if there's any Durban hash left (hopefully you lot haven't bought them out yet).
I'll be trying to avoid the centre as much as possible, and plan on getting out before the evening - the Dam is not my favourite place, but reading this forum has left me sorely tempted.

Thu - will drop into Den Haag on my way back - visit to the Mauritshuis and try and spy a few dutch politicians

. May also go and dip my fet in the sea again if the weather is nice. Plus the usual visits to CS...

Have fun and I am glad my post on Texel moved you. My rec. is to get on the road very early, as the island it much bigger than it looks. Cheers!

You just be sure to keep those trouser legs at the one length
