Does a 600w ballast use 600w ontop of the 600w used by the actual bulb? So 1.2kwh total for a 600w light?

Not really thought about the mechanics of it all.

I feel silly already

no..it produces 600 watts

Ah, good good. Was just working out what the electric bill would be. Many thanks.

Must use a ciuple of watts though, as it plugs into the wall socket? Or does it just flow through and to the lamp. Havent seen the back of it with the wires in quite a while now.

Yeah it's all relative to the size of the lamp.
