Cool thanks. I heard good things, artsy, and good video reviews, wanted to check out. But also wanted to use my Android phone for Google Maps. I've got a long list of spots in Amsterdam marked on my map!
Yeah just to be clear, you won't have a problem using your phone this way in any coffeeshop at all. It is only talking in the shop that is frowned up.

Much like some train companies are banning phones except for a single carriage. It's because idiots who talk on phones in places where they can't hear clearly speak louder. This is stupid because there is no need to raise your voice. Just because a person can't hear themselves properly doesn't mean the person on the other side can't either.

As for the "consumption is compulsory", that is a Dutch translation of the "consumptie is verplicht".

It's to stop the twats who come into a coffeeshop in a group of 15 and buy one joint or buy one drink. These people take the piss and think that coffeeshops are a charity, a place to make them feel warm and fluffy.

WRONG! They are a business! lol

Yeah it's too bad people take advantage like that. I try to take care of any place I go to, like when I work out of a cafe here in the states. I def buy food and drinks, and tip well - I consider it rent. It's just good karma and keeps everyone happy. :D

Yeah the "consumptie is verplicht" only ever applies to drinks. There is no obligation to buy weed/hash.

A few places with smoking rooms make you buy their weed or else you can't use the room. Most places like this don't, but there's no way to spot the minority bad from the majority good.

Bluebird prefer if you buy weed before parking up ,Ive noticed they have no time for campers/sleepers or people who never buy a drink + just sit & smoke there own .

Oh, i thought consumption meant weed cause I've never heard of a bar or restaurant where you can bring your own drinks. But good to know that the website wasn't that rude after all.

And what comes to phones, it's one of the most annoying things ever when you're trying to read a book, sleep in public transport or relax with nice J in a cs and some fuck face is yelling on the phone right next to you and with a little luck spitting on cause he is so in the moment.
Though in my cs there wouldn't be any written rule about it, more like when someone starts being a dick then staff would politely ask him/her to get off the phone...

Yeah "consumptie" means consumption. But the implication is for drinks.

I think the same thing is even written in McDs around the world.

If anyone in a CS told me consumptie meant for weed or hash I'd tell em to get lost! :D

The Dampkring matey moaned at a mate cus he was holding his iPhone. Said all the signals were messing with his scales. Think he was just stressed out tho and wanted to vent.

I was once at a dealers flat and he showed me how unreliable the scales went when he lay his phone near it, then back to normal when it was moved away.

That's a new one on me, I've never heard a phone can mess around with digital scales. I wonder what could cause this? Interesting if it's fact, I'll see what happens to a friends scales when I'm there next, but not fully convinced about this.

Dampkring on Haarlemerstraat is a bit hit and miss IMO. I had a waitress shout at me, and go fetch the manager after I said I didn't really want a drink, thanks. I see where she is coming from, but I;d just spent E20+ on buds, and just wanted to roll a little joint.

Many years ago my wife and I visited the grey area cs, we left because the bud tender just kept talking, arguing switching from Dutch to English with what seemed to be him self. As we left we noticed a wireless ear phone. Back then cell phones in the rural area we live in were a big box with antenna. For two more trips we avoided that cs until I discovered this site, going back was like going home again, good weed good service, complete with a PennState sticker in the center of their memento wall. Cell phones su#k CS do not.

Probably depends on phones/scales.
But I saw first hand that it definitely makes the measurements unreliable.
