cornish pixies' trip report 7 - 9 sept 2010

Post by cornish pixie »

right guys fist time for doing anything like this but i read a good few trip reports myself and found (like everything on this site) them really helpful in organising my trip and wanted to give a bit back to the site.
Sunday 7th sept

Its finally here today we leave for Amsterdam Myself, Mr S are travelling from Cornwall and Mr T from Wales. Were all great friends and grew up together and this is the first time we have managed to get a holiday all together due to work commitments etc so this is gunna be special. Ive been to Amsterdam 3 times before but my last trip was back in 2001 so this is a long awaited return i can tell you. Mr S made his first trip earlier in the year and as for Mr T he's a Amsterdam Virgin.
We orgianise to meet at Brostol Airport about a 3 hour drive for Mr S and myself from Cornwall and around a Hour for Mr T from Wales. The drive is uneventful and we follow the traffic leaving cornwall which is rather heavy but is what we expected. Myself and Mr S are 20 minutes from the airport when the phone goes " guys ohh guys im really lost i dunno where i am and where to go". It Mr T seems there was a road closure his way which has diverted him into Bristol city and he's lost and panic is not the word !!! We carm him down and tell him to follow the signs back to the M5 south. Theres nothing for it i say to Mr S were gunna have to get him from the services else he's gunna get himself fucking lost again. Off we go back the way we came and direct Mr T to the nearest service station where we pick him up. "God boys i was sure i was gunna miss this flight " he calms down and we get going along the way Mr S and myself cant resist in taking the piss about his panic stricken voice bellowing through the hands free system which " boys boys help im lost !!! anyhow we give it a rest as i have feeling he'l get his own back sometime during the trip.
We get to the airport and as only have hand luggage go straight through security where as usual i get treated like a terrorist for taking aftershave in my hand luggage. We check the boards and like most easyjet flights were delayed by a hour so theres nothing for it than to hit the bar. Four jugs later and its boarding time. After a 45 minte flight we arrive at schiphol and shoot straight on the next rain to Centraal station. On the train i say to Mr S i cant wait to see Mr Ts face when we walk out". Off the train we get and out we go into the night and Mr Ts face says it all he's gobsmaked and Mr S is grinning and im thinking long time Mokum nice too see ya again. Happy days
Due to our delay we are now late to meet the landlord i try ringing but no answer so we decided to get to the studio. We're staying at choice studio apartment on the Reestraat in the jordaan area of the city. we rush down the Damrak turn left past the royal palace along the Paleistraat through to Hartenstraat and finally along Reestraat. Nice and easy to find we ring the bell get buzzed in and make our way up the 63 steep stairs to our studio apartment. We stick the bags down and check it out. Its small but got what we need and its a typical charming Amsterdam roofspace studio. Mr S takes the bed Mr T the sofa bed and im left with the cabin bed in the roof area which is cosy and comfortable. We look around and Mr S spots a bong in the window and its loaded he pulls it in one " harsh its got baccy in it " nevermind though was a nice gesture from the landlord who then walks in and introduces himself. We have a chat pay our money and decided to get out into the city and get smoking.
We decided to hit Greenplace first due to great reports of the menu and quality also because its got a nice smoking room and Mr T fancies taking it a bit easy on his first joint ( no Pure for the first ). Wise as his first time in the dam.I order 1 gram of chocolope 13 e, blueberry cheese 13e and super polom 8e. The budtender is really helpful lets me have a look at the tubs and suggests whats hot and whats not so hot. i like a honest budtender. I grab a coke and Mr S has grabbed a spare table outside. We do the business and get rolling with big smiles on our faces. I make a half gram joint of the chocolope and whist smoking really enjoy taking in the view the Nieuwmarkt it really is beautiful at night. Then i feel it kind of strange like in the back of my head kind of high. I like it then i get energy and theres no way i can keep still so we wonder off into the night.
We end up igoing hunters to get a couple of grams of sour d but there out. Mr S grabs a gram of super silver haze the budtender is helpful and lets him look before he buys then weighs up once agreed "1.3 grams ok " she says Mr S agrees no problem we buy and fly and explore the RLD taking in all the sights etc as one does. Then i fancy a nice cool heineken so we stumble along cafe bar Remember Mr S says he went in here earlier in the year and you can smoke tobacco and weed whist enjoying a beer. We pop in grab a small beer and and i smoke another chocolope joint its nice the high is great but i dont find the taste of chocolate anywhere if being critical i would buy agian for the high but maybe else where. the smoking room is huge Remember and its quite and chilled only downside is the music being so crap and loud.
We head back out and walk the Warmoesstraat looking in the odd shop here n there and having a good laugh then decide to head back over to greenplace for another joint as we make our way over we stumble past The Jolly Joker. This was the first coffeeshop i ever vsted back in 1996 and i was never able to locate it in the past so we pop in and buy 2g of cheese for 20e when inspecting it it stinks to high heaven. we sit opposite the bar with a coffee and i make a super polom joint with some S.S.H From Mr S sit back and have fond memories of doing the same thing 14 years ago.
We finish up and decide at 12.30 am its time to get bck for the first night we walk past The Greenplace and decide to pop in and smoke a quick pure weed joint each at 6e. we sit in the window and its cold drinks only so grab a mango looza lush. The joints are nice burn evenly but lack punch and as for taste there well ok will pass next time. we stumble back to the studio but one problem we cant find the door !!! " it was here earlier" says Mr T!!! We look around for about five minutes and still cant find it. I check the street yep right street no door. Se here we are three stoned lads looking for a door quite a sight in a sleepy Jordaan street. Anyhow we find it in the end ( yes right in front of us ) and stumble up the stairs. we get sorted and play cards i make a pure blueberry cheese joint and light up WOW this tastes lush like a strong cheese witha fruity taste as you exhale then i feel a little heavy eyed. I look up to my cabin bed and realise that is actually quite high and attempted to climb the ladder i get half way and shit its actually quite high the boys laugh and i come back down and make another B.B.C joint play cards and buy 3 am its time to hit the sack. I climb up the ladder and get sorted into bed and look down fuck it is high really high. "Boys its really high up here" i look down "If i roll over and fall out in my sleep im gunna seriously fucking hurt myself". Mr T and Mr S piss themselves uncontrollably for around five minutes sniggering " imagine the claim on the insurence papers " Bastards its not funny there no safety rail nothing. I get my head down listening to them laughing and try to sleep but i cant nod off. Is it the chocolope ? the excitement of being back in Amsterdam ? or is it the thought of falling out this bed !!!! who knows who cares coz tomorrow is another day in paradise.

day two coming soon will try to add some pics aswell

It a nice coffeeshop small and full of character. There's a nice mezanine to chill out on in there and drinks are reasonable also the menus not to bad. Pre bagged though. Cheese was a good buy. Check it out sometime on your next visit seems more atmospheric in the evenings.
