if alcohol was ILLEGAL or even only Decriminalised, then more people would make it at home...
thus in my opinion, if weed was legal, and readily available in shops, all cured and manicured for you, the amount of private home growing would go waaaaay down.... 99% of people would happily pay more from a shop (inc. tax) if it meant they didnt have to prepare it themsleves.
Im as bored as a midget in a theame park!
Growing your own weed in comparison to brewing your own beer is so far apart, someone growing for personal use only can put a lot more time, effort and care into it than someone who say is growing commercially to supply the shops.CHELSEA_SMOKERS_SOCIETY wrote:to be fair (in the UK), you can already legally make very small amounts of your own alcohol (home brew kits are easily availble in gadget shops), and tons of people make their own sloe gin and wine etc.Conkers wrote:If the goverment legalised marajuana, people would grow it wouldn't they? I've yet to try any weed bought in a coffeeshop that compares to the best I've grown for myself.

i do think you can compare the two things.Boner wrote:Growing your own weed in comparison to brewing your own beer is so far apart....
the thing is, i class yourself, and people like you and I in the 1%.... that 1% who would continue to grow at home, even if it was legal.
just like there is the 1% of alcohol drinkers who view home made as better option.... depsite its availablitly, you do still have a small amount of people who make personal use alcohol, to a much better standard than is available commerically, ie. my late granddad who made (in his opinion) the greatest pocheen in the area (spelleing?). also i know people who make own brew beers and ciders, and make them beautifully, and impress their mates with them. my parents make sloe gin and elderflower wine (middle class possibly?), and they really enjoy it.
i honestly think the vast majority of drinkers and smokers out there, only do so, to get the effects. its a real minority who actually love the product and care about quality enough to create their own, or at least look out for genuine quality.
thus, if shop sold weed was available, 99% would happily buy whatever weed would get them stoned from the shops, and say sod off to the growing of it themselves.

What i find shocking is how poor countries are bullied into not legalizing or decriminalizing.
A country like Haiti could solve its debt to the first world if it turned itself into "Amsterdam South" but the USA who holds most of its debt will not allow them to do it even though they are a soverign nation.

I understand your convenience point however those growing it wouldnt just stop and if you look at it financially it costs aprox 10 to 15 pounds an ounce to grow dont envisage smart price weed at asda beating that lol so as soon as its legal more ppl will grow it and buy between crops. the financial saving in cana from growing cost to retail pricing is massive so you carnt compare that to ppl making alcohol at home probably save 200 pound a year whereas average out amsterdam pricing say 10 pound a g so 280 oz saving 265 to what it may cost on highstreet not to mention probable quality differences.CHELSEA_SMOKERS_SOCIETY wrote:i do think you can compare the two things.Boner wrote:Growing your own weed in comparison to brewing your own beer is so far apart....

You really beat me to it. The most amazing weed I've smoked was in Thailand, but anything I've had in the US and Netherlands doesn't even compare to my own. When you're growing it, you suddenly have an investment, because an adult plant provides you with so much worth (be it with weed or with money, however you look at it). I'm sure I spend more time with my plant than any coffeeshop does with any one plant.Boner wrote:Growing your own weed in comparison to brewing your own beer is so far apart, someone growing for personal use only can put a lot more time, effort and care into it than someone who say is growing commercially to supply the shops.CHELSEA_SMOKERS_SOCIETY wrote:to be fair (in the UK), you can already legally make very small amounts of your own alcohol (home brew kits are easily availble in gadget shops), and tons of people make their own sloe gin and wine etc.Conkers wrote:If the goverment legalised marajuana, people would grow it wouldn't they?
