Help needed!

Post by welshie »

Hey y'all

I have a photo that I found, from my very first trip to Amsterdam.

The problem is, I have been 3 times since and cannot for the life of me remember where this place is, or its name, or if it even still exists.

My hope is that some knowledgeable folk on here will be able to identify it either way.

I only have a physical copy of the photo so I have had to take the best quality 'photo of a photo' that I could. Apologies for this, but it should be clear enough to recognise the place, if you do.

This photo was taken July 2006 which is why I am worried that the shop may have closed down by now.

Anyway, here's the photo, and any help in identifying the coffeeshop would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to what I've already said, the place as I remember it was very small main shop, and there was like a square 'hole' near the ground which you went through (it had steps attached to the wall beneath for grip) and it took you into the room you see in the photo. And there was a huge mirror on the wall as you can see.

Not a clue. I'm really sorry, I wish I could give more information but I've not been able to remember since that first trip in 06.

We stayed on Spuistraat that occasion so it could be somewhere around that area.

The colours are very reggae so I'd start with any reggae themed coffeeshops, have a look here: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... ght=reggae

Ah yes, don't know why I missed that one.

I don't think that's it though.

The best way I can explain the inside of this shop is, imagine you've walked into a typical cafe thats what main shop looked like, very small, maybe 30ft x 30ft, and there was an entrance to the room in the picture which was a square hole at the bottom of one wall, which basically you jumped down (there were steps attached vertically to the wall) into said room. Said room is almost 'underground' compared to the shop.....felt like it anyway.

Doesnt the description tally with the Red Light District Bulldog? Its a mural walled entrance, with steps down to the basement room, though I havent been in there for years cos they are shite so cant comment on whether it looks like this nowadays, although would it ever look that scruffy?
