on www.smokersguide.com its sayin that abraxas has bought chocolata

gettin complete make over apparently! wonder what it will mean for the cakes inside, alot of negative and posotive reports on the shop ( i thought they were tasty cakes but was pretty fucked that day anyway to make an informed decision on them)

what you all thnk about this?

i had some snow white that was ok at best, and two bon bons that did nothing at all.....so good luck to the new owners. I hear Abraxas do great hashshakes so maybe next year i'll have to stop in and try the bon bons again.

The Choco Mist weed used to be one of my favourites (haven't had it for a few trips) so I'm a bit dissapointed especially seeing that I dont like Abraxas much and them buying out another shop just screams touristy to me, I know I'm a tourist as well but I dont go to Amsterdam for loud colourful coffeeshops I much prefer the quieter local ones.

sounds to me like he trying 2 get a chain going. I also read the thing on the smokers guide. Heard a lot about this choco mist weed from other people. Does anyone know if there any other places sell it.

ive never been to abraxas but was plannin to on next trip! so cant really say on what i think chocolata will be like

but when i went the few memories i had were good, it was simple, comfy and friendly...just hold on tight when tackling the stairs!

Just have to hope it doesn't go in the Bulldog direction.

Seeing that Abraxas has a big neon sign saying 'Abraxas' I expect that we'll see one soon probaly saying 'Abraxas 2'

I love the originality shops create when they name a second (or more) location.
e.g..Rokerij, II, and III

Although i can imagine their business meetings are fairly laid back..

Well predicted Boner - I have read that the new sign is up and they are selling weed, but some refurbishments are still being carried out; I don;t think it reads number two on the sign though.

I still don't know what to make of it all - I did like both coffeeshops on previous visits, but prefered Chocolata, but so long as this down't turn into another tourist trap commericalised coffeeshop like Bulldog and Grasshopper (but I guess it's too late for that). Hopefully it will be all finished in a couple of weeks as I guess it will be worth a visit - i'm sure to be in that area more than once on my trip.

Abraxas might be 'touristy' but it still has some heart in it, which is a lot more than I can say for the twat that owned Chocolata!.

im really up for goin to abraxas on this trip, just didnt go last time not sure why.

went to chocolata and it seemed ok though, cant really comment on whether the cakes were good cos i dont really remember what i did after...or before for that matter i just rememeber being there but what was wrong with the owner???

See this is what I'm confused about, theres been reports they got shut down for having too much stock, surely if that was the case then they wouldn't be able to just sell the shop/license as the government control all that, I'd originally heard that Abraxas had just brought Chocolata, what gives?

Why would ya sell a shop that's supposibly doin enough trade for ya to need to be overstocked?. There's no way they were shifting that much gear........legally. Anyway, maybe Abraxas did just buy it...but you'd need to have yer back serioiusly up against the wall elsewhere to force ya to sell it. Even if you don't want to run it anymore, ya get some eejit ya can trust in to look after the place and get the cheques sent to the Bahamas!. Not to mention I worked in a place close by that eventually got busted for Class As (Not while I was there).... ya see and hear some interesting things when charles is on the piss.

Never got a chance to visit Chocolata, but then again haven't been to Abraxas either yet - so I guess if people say that the shop might be improving then it doesn't really matter - wanted to try the ChocoMist though - that looked nice.
