I have some very strong Amnesia Haze at the moment that is causing me to cough so much on exhale that it's getting difficult to finish a joint.

What is it that causes some strains to be very harsh on the lungs?
Other than vaping (I don't have a vapourizer), what can I do to reduce the coughing?

I would love to know this as well, as some strains make me cough like crazy, others I can take massive hits with no coughing at all.

I think its not only the strain, but also how it was grown and processed. eg. hydro stuff grown with chems gives the most coughing, especially when its not flushed or dried very well.

Another observation is that the buds tend to get sweeter and more mellow tasting when they are well cured. Buds that are under-cured tend to be more harsh, so this could be a factor in the coughing.

This is all just my own thoughts, not proven. I wish I knew scientifically which ones cause the coughing, and why!

There are several reasons for harsh smoke:

1. no fulsh of the medium before harvest - to long nutrition, the nutrient stay unused in the plant
2. to quick drying - no / less chlorophyll is decomposed
3. no fermentation - less chlorophyll is decomposed


chlorophyll and remaining nutrients taste harsh and wet weed too -> no chlorophyll is decomposed! -


There are differences in the genetic, but a harsh taste is caused mostly by wrong (bad) treatment!

What do you mean by fermentation? Is this what happens when the weed is cured?

the process I call "fermentation" is descrided here as "curing"!
Have a look at page 100ff!
That process makes the difference, in the buds there are still chemical transformations going on. but they need a minimum of moisture in the bud, but evenly spread! curing makes this little moisture stay longer, and makes the chemical reactions possible, the reactions are not possible when too dry and dried too quick! Always in the darkness, light causes no/less chlorophyll is decomposed!



btw this book will help you very much, total overview of all you need to know in one book, I know lots of growing books, but this is the most complete with lots of pics and charts! not everything is 100% correct in this book, but very good to look-up in general!

thanks for the info!

cough on exhale is caused by patricles in the smoke irritating the lining of bronchial passeage and gettin trapped in aveloi of lung. contaminates present in the grass/hash are the offenders.

Tibizla hash is rather rough i thought,Good stone thou .
