The opinion seems to be that stopping tourists(weed or otherwise) will not go ahead in Amsterdam or bigger cities.
But that most if not all smaller towns/villages councils/mayors especially those within a certain distance of borders will be given full power to put it in to practise .
The guy at paradox put as , " smaller villages are pretty sick of their 1 c/s being packed by tourists who have just popped over the border , while no other shops or services are getting any benefit form them being there while having to put up with the increase in traffic , noise , more pollution , rubbish .

Not to get side-tracked, but for those who haven't seen The Wire... Baltimore police rounded up all the dealers and gave them an area to work un-policed. here's what happened...youngian wrote:Jimmy McNulty-"What the fuck is Hamsterdam?"Kermit wrote:Baltimore would be your best choice by the looks of things
Could anyone tell me if the club member plan would extend to EU citizens who are resident in the Netherlands?

Fantastic read, and the $400,000,000euros in taxes is a lot of money to throw away in any economy. It brings a little peace of mind to see that kind of number, since that's only the taxes on actual marijuana and marijuana related products... the $400m in taxes probably doesn't include tourist dollars spent on lodging, entertainment, travel, etc.
Too much $$$$!

Who knows
Well it's starting i guess. What with the smoking allowed in small cafes now, we are going to be hit even harder by the looks of things. Looks like they still going to target us well behaved tourists.

Re: Who knows
It doesnt actually mention that the memberships will be just for residents only, just that they should be member clubs, also just found out that mayor proposing this has tried before but it was rejected.djreign wrote:Well it's starting i guess.
