solo- pro's and cons?

Post by king solomon »

hey guys, i just got the dreaded "i cant make it" call from the mate i was going to go dam with and we are meant to be leaving on friday  So right now im in two minds whether to go or not, i have been there loads of times before but always either with the mrs or mates and i know the area so that aint a problem and everytime im there i always think to myself how i could enjoy it if i were on my own. But now i may actually have to do it i dont know so much :? . its like i can only listen to the ipod and read a book so much, basicaly guys what i would like to know is the real pro's and cons of doing a solo trip. be as brutal as you want, if you have done it solo before and was bored out of your brain and would never do it again i want to know, but if you had a great time (i hope there is more of the latter lol) tell me about that aswell and what you got upto while you was there it would be much appreciated

thanks guys :D

its a shitter, but if you dont go your an idiot my first time solo i wasnt on acd so i couldnt arrange a meet up or a toke and talk. maybe change what your doing while your out there visit some places. there are always acders going solo. the only down side is at the end of the night your not with your mate having a laugh that for me was the only low point. youll love it, cant you offer a free ticket to a friend one of your dealers (youll get better deals) they only pay for name change.everytime ive gone into a coffeeshop alone other solo travelers say hi

There are loads of travelouges of members who travel alone and it seems they all have a great time.
Stuart is right, now your a member of ACD check out whose in town on your dates and arrange meets.
I'm seriously thinking of going solo and haven't really thought much about being alone in the hotel, the way I'd do it would be have a smoke and some space cake, listen to some trance on the headphones, get freaked out then fall asleep and wake up early and hit the CS's again

If its not for too long then I think I would go. I just booked my first solo trip for April - yikes. I think I will miss the craic with my mates and I hate eating alone - weird I know, but those are the only two things I'm dreading. So go, make the most of it, it could be a liberating experience :P

I am going solo this week for the first time and looking to do what I want to do when I want to do it rather than trying to keep everyone happy.I have been lots of times so I try show my friends a good time while there. If you get really lonely while there, you can "rent" a friend, only 50 euro  lol

I much prefer going solo (For any holiday). When I go with mates, no matter how good to start with, I'm generally totally peed off with them by the end.

I prefer to do what I want when I want - dope, camera and OV chipkaart
and I'm off all day like the pink bunny, there aren't many that can keep
going with me (not because I'm a heavy smoker, just I want to keep dong
other stuff).

The only bit I'm not so keen on is eating in the evening alone - it just feels uncomfortable.

Otherwise, never bored for a minute - maybe get out of the Dam for a day or two and see some other towns.

Go for it.

Do it, you will not regret it. You do everything in your own time and you meet so many people mate, I found people were alot more talkative being on your own, almost every CS i went into people were starting conversation. You won't spend as much money if you're on your own and you may discover more of the city.

+ the ACD crew are always in town, gapie and bleak by the sound of things have a smoke up every evening so look out for them

It is good you decided to go.Not much of a mate bailing out on you on your BIRTHDAY weekend in the dam.Like many have said eating dinner alone in a restaurant can feel weird, even worse on your birthday. So I would like to offer to buy you dinner for your birthday(unless you are a some kind of weirdo, this is the internet after all, lol)Let me know.
