Hi folks, well I have finally done it and got myself booked up for 2 days...

Don't know what the wife will think of it but she did say "if that's what you want to do then do it"

Anyway I went ahead and booked a flight from Edinburgh on the 2nd. Hopefully arriving outside CS just after 10.00am  I'll have all day / night and the following day as I will be leaving CS around 20.00hrs (off my head with space cake and weed) to catch my flight home for 21.30hrs.

I will be looking to meet as many ACD's as I will be travelling solo (1st time) and hope to get off my tattie... Unfortunately I am not much of a drinker but like to think I can last the pace with a good smoke

The only problem at the moment is finding somewhere for the night to sleep

oh and telling the missus I've booked

I am thinking of staying down the museumplein as I've stayed round there before and feel comfortable in the likes of Rookies, Easytimes, and Dolphins but want to try other parts of the city with others... My biggest problem when stoned is getting lost... Just check out my previous trip reports

Anyway I will be contacting those who have already arranged T&T's in the hope of getting things arranged...

Only 29 sleeps to go

Look on the bright side Steven at least you don't have to tell your wife you're going with a girl you work with  oh yeah, that's what I had to do...(clearly it was a guy in my case)

Good luck not getting lost, I get lost every single time, stoned, not stoned...makes no difference, but I have sweet FA sense of direction even at home

Thats great that your looking to find somewhere to stay down at the museumplien. Out of the centre a bit. Theres plenty of cheap budget hotels down that way and around the liedseplien area. There is about 2/3 that we have used near the leidseplein area like the kooyk theres also 2 more on the same street but i cant remember there name. But all are great price wise and all serve a free breakfast in the morning. The Kooyk got a bad write up on trip advisor. But we stayed there in july this year. And we did rebook for this time. But cancelled as we got a better deal on another hotel down around vondel park and it was also recommended to me by a good friend who has just returned from there. But check out this little site its called easytobook.com. We have booked our hotel from them everytime we have went. And we have never had a complaint yet. To be honest if your like us and all your needing is somewhere to get the head down well the Kooky is a great place to stay and serves a good breakfast in the morniing. Another one just round the corner on marnixstratt (liedseplein) is the de lanterne again its only a 1 star budget hotel and again its had its bad write ups. But we stayed there on our 3rd visit to amsterdam last year and in all honesty had no complaints whatsoever. Personelly i think some of these people that do complain are booking 1 star budget hotels get there and expect 5 star luxury.

Its also good to see that you want to try cs a bit more off the beaten path. Well on the 2nd probably around midday we'll be heading towards the De Grall and kutsu both are down near the Albert cuyp market. We only stumbled upon the De Grall earlier this year. Was the 1st time we decided to stay away from the centre of town. And was one of the best moves weve done while in the dam. De Grall was a little kind of hippy cs with more locals than tourists. And we were treated like V.I.Ps while in there. We have never been in Katsu but on the advise of members from here and frog hollow we'll be sure to try. Ive been told it's kind of like the De Grall as its also like a kind of hippy cs. Not that were hippies or have anything against people who are, Its just we feel comfortable in these places away from stag parties or large groups of males shouting and swearing ect in the centre. Also the music is more laid back and not Boom Boom Boom sorry to all who like that kind of stuff in advance but we just cant stand it. We like to be more laid back and chilled. And one of the things i noticed about katsu on this site was, To all tourists plze leave your attitude at the hotel before coming. And that was wrote up by an Amsterdam local. Where as i said above. If you stay in the centre coffeeshops you get all the noise all the shouting and swearing and even on occasions groups of lads fighting. Im affraid im on holiday with the mrs and shouting, Swearing and fighting is the last thing i want her to hear and see. Also It's like our annivessary as we married on the 31st oct 2008 and flew out to the dam on honeymoon on the 1st november 2008. So were there for a nice relaxing good time. The mrs is'nt much of a drinker nor am i really but she can keep up with the best of them when it comes to having a smoke.

So hooking up with you steven for a smoke would be great. Im sure we can arrange to meet you. Maybe on our way towards the market we can meet up and walk over together or up towards basjoes. Either way we enjoy both. Or if you have any personnel favourites im sure we can give them a bash. Let me know your thoughts and we'll get something arranged.

I'm going to be staying down by the Museumplein at Hotel Museumzicht £39, it's right opposite the Rijksmuseum with tram stop just along the road.

It's a non smoking hotel but I'm not fussed about that as the reviews on trip advisor give a good impression of the place, and i'll probably be cabbaged when I hit the bed :)
