Easyjet hand luggage, will this size limit be enough?

Post by Dave J »

Just wandering if any go hand luggage only to answer this as I really dont see the point or want to pay the charge for hold luggage if what I need to take will fit as hand luggage.

The easyjet site states the size limit for hand luggage baggage (guess weight is unlimited as no mention of that) is 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. Anyone think that should be ok for a 4 night stay worth of clothes plus space for a dslr camera?

I've done short trips with only hand luggage plenty of times. I even did a two week holiday with only hand luggage once. Just take one of those small suitcases you see everyone carrying. Definitely enough space.

If you keep within the permitted dimensions for hand luggage, you'll be fine and will not be charged by Easy Jet. Their web site clearly gives the option to pay the luggage surcharge or not, when you buy the ticket, so therefore hand luggage is free, providing the dimensions are OK.

Personally, I could not travel to Amsterdam and have all the things I need limited to hand luggage size myself, but loads do.

You will be fine with just a carry on, however you can not take your pocket knife with scissors and corkscrew

Thanks guys, think my mum might have a small travel bag, may try and get hold of her tomorrow to measure it. Cant see there being to much hassles as I tend to wear t-shirts anyways and only spill my food on me when pissed. Just cant believe there charges for hold luggage now compared to when I went 2 years ago. Whats to bet they wont put it up again before april!.

Aught to save a good half hour not going to the backage collection area, waiting for ir etc. Will be in the first coffeeshop before some even get on the train with taking hand luggage, happy fuckin days hopefully.

You'll be grand with hand luggage - just make sure it is just ONE bag   and that you aren't carrying anything else (coats, food etc)!! EJ have tightened up on this recently

6 months off and I'm already thinking about fuckin packing lol. Wander if I'll get away with spare compart camera in front jacket pocket and a 70-210mm lens for the dslr camera on my inside jacket pocket?. Cos I dont really want to stick a £180 lens in a tightly packed bag. My understanding is if it's in your pocket and dont look like your taking the piss they cant do anything.

 I see then you are making plans for your packing early enough!! That gave me a laugh. I would stick as much as you can in your pockets. They were evil bastards with me in both Belfast and Schiphol this year, I near passed out in Schiphol I'd that many bloody clothes on me  mental note to self pack light next time

I know and was waiting for someone to say. Lol
Thing is, speedy boarding puts you first in line. Flying out puts you first on the plane and choosing the best seat but when returning it's really handy and convenient. You can turn up late to the airport but get to push pass everyone else, where they've been rushing to book in, get through passport control and finally to the correct gate, I've got all that time still in the departure lounge, chilling out and more time than them to shop in duty free or have a beer. Without speedy boarding VIP you barely have enough time to do all this as Schiphol don't let you into the departure lounge early enough if you arrive too early at the airport. They've been queuing and standing around at the final gate for ages and I simply waltz in at the last minute and push pass everyone and always get my best seat, also I'm always first on and first off as a bonus and for some reason my luggage is practically first on the carousel belt at both ends too, so zero waiting about. Basically, you're first in line with everything with a SB ticket.
