So just to be clear! Would these new laws be at a national level and each City would not have any legal right to allow and regulate Coffee Shops or the amount of Cannabis that an individual is allowed to have, as it stands now?

As far as we can tell that is the plan yes.

Spain will NOT become the next Amsterdam, they would catch way too much shit from the EU and there neighbors.
Seems like Californias dream to legalize is almost dead as well, if you can believe it most of the smokers that were polled are voting against the proposition to legalize.
They feel it is not there fight now that they can basicly buy a perscription for MMJ so why bother messing with ( for them ) a good thing   .

If dutch CS close there doors to tourists it will just be a matter of time before the whole tolerance of marijuana will be dropped, the rest of the world would then use this as just another excuse to not legalise/decriminalize it, just imagine it, all the governments around the world would be saying things like:

"if holland, a country known for its tolerance and relaxed attitude towards soft drugs has recognised the dangers associated with marijuana and tolerating marijuana use has again criminalised its use, then we must recognise this and not make the same mistakes they did over 30 years ago"

There would never be another amsterdam, ever, and the whole legalising marijuana movement would take a huge step backwards.

We've came a long way in the last 20 years with decriminalization in some of the States. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but that's what it's really all about for me. Just keep me out of jail and please, QUIT GIVING ME PISS TESTS.

They are already saying it, or atleast that is the byline in every paper around the world that is carrying this news.
Sadly IMO you can trace the blame for this to Bush and the American government going into Iraq and stirring up the readical muslims like a hive of hornets, which has given power to all the fucking nutjob rightwing government crackpots who are feeding off the worlds insecuirity to forward there Christian agendas.

You may be on to something here. Still I would like to think this question is all about common sense. Back in the day being gay was criminal, but over the years with some hard work by the gay activists its something so common nowadays that the public don't think (knows) there's anything wrong about it. The gay people knew it in the 50's, they just had to convince everybody about it. Same thing here, we know its not such a big deal. We're not criminals or junkies, just ordinary people from every society class, all around the globe, and we just like to do it and so what?! It may take some time, but in the end, like in a bad movie, the justice will win!

Does anybody have any idea when they will announce the ban officially?

You guys are getting way to worked up over the uncertainty. Don't forget that there has been threat after threat after threat over the years and the most that has happened is further tightening of the laws.

Certainly here, it is not like everyone is talking about "the closure". The Project 1012 is considered to be a certainty in happening (slow gentrification of that post code) but I don't hear hardly anyone talking about this coalition document.

So I recommend to take a deep breath and spark up a joint  I did that last night and slept through the F1!

AND... if I'm not mistaken, aren't they mentioning "Membership" and MAYBE not allowing non-Dutch citizens to partake? So the Nazi party's first option IS membership for both Dutch AND non-Dutch citizens. Sure it'll take alot of the fun out of it, but even us Yanks might be able to "join" a coffeeshop (or two, or three, or four!) and still get to indulge when we travel.

Of course, will there even BE any Moroccan hasj left after all the Muslims have been rounded up in Nieuwmarkt Square and shipped back to North Africa? I'm waiting for Wilders to announce his new identification system: a red crescent moon patch that MUST be worn at all times by anyone of the Muslim faith!

it took nearly a year from the decision to ban sale of magic mushrooms for the ban to come to effect. even if the very worst happens and non dutch are to be banned from coffeeshop membership/use it would likely take a similar period to enforce with likely legal appeals etc.
