Looking for a good hotel for one person close to CBD on 20th

Post by peterniss »

Hi all,

I have spent quite a few hours today sifting through accomodation search sites and countless reviews and I am more confused than when I started. A lot of the reviews tend to be negative but I get the feeling only the pissed off patrons tend to leave the reviews. I plan to go at the end of the month for 4 nights (Wed-Sun) and I just want a decent place that doesnt mind smoking and has some wifi internet. My budget is obviously as little as possible but realistically I guess £30-£45 a night. Can anyone recommend a cheap and trustworthy establishment that isnt to badly run down and infested with bedbugs, skidmarks on the sheets, etc. (Got those from reading reviews, quite funny some of them)

What are these like?

Amsterdam Inn Bed And Breakfast
Hotel Princess Amsterdam
Stayokay Zeeburg Hostel Amsterdam
De Mallemoolen Hotel

Are any of the house boats worth a try?

Cheers all,
Peter

Unfortunately the del mallemoolen is booked solid. looks nice tho.

edit, looks like there is some space there (unless the website is wrong) but no wireless internet?

What about the Quentin England? Looks like its smoker friendly tho maybe slightly skanky.

I've never heard anything good about any of the Quentin hotels. Stayed at the Arrive for one night about 8 years ago, moved to the Flying Pig the next morning.

I gave up sorting through all the others and just went for the flying pig in the end tho only got one night in the downtown and the rest at the beachside one. Its cheap and hopefully not to far from fun They have a 24hour cancel policy which is nice. .. Anyone else been to the beachside flying pig? Or will be there on the 21-25?

If you're looking at stoping in Amsterdam the beach Flying Pig isn't the answer, it's not even in Amsterdam.

It does look like to get into town is quite a mission. I was hoping to get the bus in during the day. Essentially this is a trip just to get a smoke after a year and a half without. I'm not so fussed with staying out in town late. Is there any alternatives you can suggest? I probably should have planed this a few months back but only really came to mind over the last week. The booking can be cancelled and I have atleast the first night in town sorted. Really just looking for somewhere I can just stay and chill with some smoke. Any advice would be most appreciated. ;)

I went solo in APril and i stayed in Hotel Travel, it was the 3rd time i've stayed there, but the 1st time on my own. I stay in a 4 bed mixed room and the cost for 3 nights was 45 euros, 15 euros a night :-). Was able to smoke and was clean with a hot shower, cant ask for much more than that :-)

I smoked out the window at the Corner house without any problem.
