Van Goth was an interesting and unusual man, and his paintings were masterful. Was a great place to visit. But i've been fasinated with Van Goth since i was a child and have read alot about him. Try getting hold of a book by Martin Gayford called The Yellow House :-)

Infact, im over at the same time as you KingDoc and my hotel is round the corner from the VG museum, im sure a couple of my mates want to visit there also, so.....:-)

Yeah know the feeling lol, my wife and I went once but we are not art lovers and just didn't get it, though we do intend to return. We found the Anne Frank House to be more our taste. (we are both fascinated by WWII history. Morbid I know)
Anne Frank's house was a great place to go, I made the big mistake of going on a Saturday.
Oh and if you do read this hasanyoneseenmypipe, you may be interested to know there is an Anne Frank exhibition on in Lisburn at the mo...think it's in the library? Its on until the end of the month :)

Sorry again for yet another thread hijack
Worth a look at, cheers Rufus :).

Yeah you'd be missing out bigtime, passing up the chance to stare into Van Gogh's soul.

Went to the Van Gogh Museum in '06, but the shrooms kicked in just as we got inside and we left in a panic. Saw several Van Gogh self-portraits at the Musee D'Orsay in Paris. Unbelievable use of colour.

Going back to the VG museum is at the top of my list for my next trip. Guess I'll lay off the shrooms this time.

Toke on!

In August the modern extension in the park was closed for renovation although all the Van Gogh work has been hung in the main building but still it is a bit cramped and they still charge full price. Check the internet, and buy your tickets online and you just sail straight in 8) .
What a long strange trip it is.

Because that for us was the biggest waste of a morning ever.
I'll go back once it is reopened properly if they ever finnish it that is lol.
As is, yikes, just a money grab, barely anything on display, your just paying for the construction costs.
I agree - it sucks right now. The Night Watch and the Vermeer room were the only thing that saved the trip.
