Unsure whether I should allow my friend to take mushrooms..

As some of you are aware mushrooms are still sold in amsterdam and I happen to know a couple of shops that still do them under the counter, my only concern is my friend has suffered from mild depression before and it states that people that have suffered from depression shouldn't take them. I've told my friend this and he is a stubborn mother fucker, he tells me he'll be fine and is up for it. Has anybody or does anybody know of someone who has taken mushrooms who has once suffered from depression and what the outcome was?
I'm also aware of things that bring you out of a bad trip, such as lots of vitamin C, does it actually work?
Any help is great, ta

Set and Setting.
He will be fine and have a great time IF you take some precautions and make some plans for the day in advance.
Food, water and smokables ( indica )in case your too wrecked to move around much during the peak.
After the peak maybe a nature walk through vondel park.

As Iko tells set and setting, and if he def wants to take shrooms let him
do that. Don't be negativ if the decision is to take shrooms. Negativ or paranoid talking turns a good trip to a bad one!
Get some hash beside the indica weed too...
Better to have both, you might get pissed if you miss someting when shroomed.

Also alot of travelers now a days have Adivan, two of those and a funny movie on the tv in a darkened hotel room will stop any bad trip.
They are stronger than they look so do not exceed 2.

I know they sell some "unshroomers" on the internet, think it's a powder/liquid that is supposed to make the high stop, maybe by vomiting I don't know. If they sell in on the internet I guess they sell it in smartshops too, but I don't know if it works well.
By the way, a lot of shrooms give an euphoric high. For example, mexicans are not really strong on the visual side, but give an intense mind high if you take a proper dose like 1,5g dried.

Yeah I've done shrooms in the dam many times but it's my friends first time in amsterdam and his first time doing mushrooms. Perhaps I'll give him just under a gram, see how he feels and if he's enjoying himself give him another small dose.

taking shrooms when stressed or down is usually not a great idea, nor is spending your trip worring about someone else your tripping with.
for your friend he should def stay away from truffells (they can be very introspective and one can get lost in their own thoughts- if these are negative then a bad trip is on the cards) and hawians (far too strong for first experience). cubenisis mushrooms (if you are lucky to find) would probally be best choice eg thai, mexican, columbian etc. these arent really as potent dried though.
there is not really any way to stop a trip, although alot of shops sell products that claim to, these are purley placebos. If you are having a bad experience it can help to eat some sugar, eg orange juice, chocolate. this doesnt stop the trip it simply increases blood sugar and can physically give you a boost. this physical boost can help change your thought patterns and with luck turn your bad trip round. sedation is another way to take the edge off a bad/edgy trip, although if you are near the trip peak even very high dose sedatives such as diazepam wont stop the trip or let you sleep they will just take the edge off and calm you down.

Suggestion
get the shrooms in amsterdam, take them home to consume at home.
The little hawaiians are best to take home and effectiv too! You do not have to take much of them so they will last long!

I dont get this whole thing about you allowing him to take them, if he wants to take them thats up to him, warn him about the possible down side but finish by talking about the positives, I've only ever took hallucinogenics when I've had positive thoughts and never had a bad trip.

Whats not to get? If I don't feel comfortable about him taking them I won't go to the shop they're sold. He's not stupid, he knows the effects, but having read things on the internet it states "if suffered from depression etc. do not use them", I'm pretty sure he's still on the back end of the packet of tablets prescribed by his doctor.
All I'm worried about is having to look after him at the end of day, I don't want to see him in a bad way.
That and the fact it's my birthday/holiday celebration so I don't want something like that to spoil it.

I think you are being a very good friend and I commend you. Shrooms are no joke and neither is depression.

Dont forget to stop him from smoking any weed while you're at it, thats not a good thing to do if suffering from depression either, the same with booze dont let him drink and dont let him cross the road by himself either.

it was probably the dumbest comment I've heard for several days
it's not something stupid by warning anyone
it is after all his birthday ... so I'd not had to take care of someone who can not control his trip

Your comments are moronic and not wanted, so do one.
