Hi, my first trip to Amsterdam and just wanted to get some info, I'm a 50yr.old male, traveling alone and would like some good advise on single rooms for rent, hostels, etc. Not really interested in sharing a room with anyone unless they are around my age, I don't party but only toke some, so not interested in the major party scene, but don't care what others do,
just looking for a safe place to beddown, I'll be on the streets most of the time. Where are the best coffeeshops to visit, more later, sorry for not being more detailed. thanks
first trip to amsterdam
Hi and welcome, You'll get a wealth of advise from others in here, that it will become an obsession within itself
I personally think the Liedsplein area is a nice area, and staying round there or the museumplein will be safe enough.
Don't get me wrong, being up by the SQ would be good but I prefer to just go round there during the day and stay in safer surrounding during darkness.
Others may disagree, but that's the best thing about an open forum
enjoy

Welcome to the forum.
What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.
How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.
You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.
Enjoy
