I mean, I kinda understood that EC tells you how much the plant is gonna eat from the nutes in the water, but for example if you have a recommended EC of 2, and if your water has an EC of 3, how do you bring it down ?
A EC(Electroconductivity) meter is used to measure the amount of fertilizer in your feeding solution. Example if your recomended fertilizer EC is 2, first you have to measure the water you are using and then ad 2 to that reading. Water reads 0.8 and needed Fertilizer is 2.0 so your feeding solution should be 2.8 when mixed. Fertilizer changes PH so always adjust your EC first then get your PH right and always use purified water not tap water I do not care what anybody says it makes a big differance is final product.
Here is a example of real EC guidelines when using proper fertilizers
Germination till first true set of leaves 0.4-0.5
first set of leaves to third set of leaves 0.6-0.7
third set of leaves to fifth set of leaves 0.7-0.9
First week of flowering 1.2-1.4
second week of flowering 1.6-1.8
third weed till flush 1.8-2.2
I use an EC & PH meter everyday 10 months out of the year on a decent sized hydro gro so if anyone has any hrdo questions I will do my best to help.
Thanks a lot :)

I clicked on this thread for the first time...and just spent the last 2 hours or so reading it from start to finish..I couldn't do anything else until I had read it all :P

What a brilliant thread, congrats on your grow, seems it was definately worth it, and you had a lot of fun (!) on the way

Would love to be able to do something like this but its not an option here..if one day it is though I'll be sure to check back on this thread!

ZBeebs wrote: The smell has become so strong that I could smell them outside the room so I added the Phresh filter. The current setup has the air in the tent pulled through the reflector, some ducting, then through the fan and through a short length of rigid ducting out the back of the tent and into the room. I ran a couple feet of flexible duct off the back of the tent to the floor, and into the carbon filter which just sits on the floor. The smell absolutely disappeared within seconds of sealing the ducting to the filter. It's amazing how effective it is, there is no trace of odor as long as the fan is going.
That Australian carbon is really something eh?!   They place on a table that vibrates to a certain frequency allowing maximum packing of carbon material.

Uhhh, not sure why you added the part about not joking... I wasn't... I been looking at phresh filter and when I did a search this was only thread to return results. Knowing there are a few Aussies on here thought I'd highlight a high quality export. 31 pages is obvious a good read
