It was quite a crowd equally boys and girls... It was much fun and being probably one of the oldest (chronologically that is).. I felt very comfortable and danced the night away...

I thought there were many very cute/ hot peeps, (Young people generally look hotter than old ones..IMO...) and ALL in a good mood.. that is all that counts..

Oh, and not many drunks at this particular party, I find that a bonus..

When is the next one? I had a blast with you guys..

A whole load of us used to be very heavily into this scene, raves, parties, clubs.....whatever you want to call it, they are nowhere near as good as when the occurred with proper trance music in the early 90's, but the music has all gone so generic now in clubs I find, plus E was better back then.

Ecstasy
rushing through my blood
all my senses start to flood
my hearing improving
my body starts moving
my head explodes
and the world is grooving

My time was slightly earlier in the late '80s. More acid house / balearic. I actually packed it in in the early 90's 'cos it just got too silly and commercial (round my area at least). As for the E being better back then, I suppose it all depends who you know. E's certainly went bad for a very long while, as it became hard to obtain the precursor chemicals..
The word on the street is it's back though.. and I've seen some very loved-up people in clubs lately

So Trance is dying? I am not into that music too much.....but I do see what you mean about the commercialization of trance, it seems really bubblegum these days.

I think one key (non-musical) difference between house and trance, is that fans of the type of house we went to see (deep house? authentic house lol) do tend remain in the scene as they get older (look at Ohm and myself as an example). But I see trance as more of a young person's game only.

Of course, house in the US was never as much about E as it was in Europe. Its much more underground and ethnic in the US, which is why the scene is quite strong there. And here I am happy to report :D

The rave scene died for me when it fragmented into all these different genres.. House nights used to envelop all the sub-genres like techno, deep, garage, acid etc
I don't wan't to listen to one type of music all night. I want DJ's who play what makes people groove and keeps them up.. not choosing what to play so it fits their image or ability to mix it seamlessly..
Sigh.. grumpy old men..

Im off to see Green Velvet do a live set in Edinburgh on Saturday !! cannot fucking wait

Classic Velvet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQP-OdzoQGI

I got into music (Chicago/detroit house/techno) around 88/90 and have been lucky to see most of the heavyweights do live sets/DJ . I seemed to move away from it when the music started getting diff labels , but i still do like to get out n about if there is someone decent playing ! Arches in Glasgow do a good night run by Slam , Pressure .
