Can someone give me a simple explination about....

Sativa's and Indica's.
I've been smoking 'full-time' for about 6/7 years now, and i've never learnt much about the difference between the two.
Am I right in thinking that Sativa's are very uplifting 'daytime' highs, and Indica's are the type to give you couchlock and put you to sleep?
Where I live there is no such thing as a choice in weed, it's all very badly homegrown stuff, and its a rare occasion people will bring stuff back from the 'dam. (Because theyre all fannys and cant handle their smoke haha)
I was living in Liverpool for a while and my source down there was giving me different stuff every other day, Lemon Haze, Cheese, K2, Northern Lights, but he knew nothing about them except the name, so I just want a wee brush up on my weed knowledge before I get out to the 'dam so I can make it a perfect trip all round!
Cheers!

More or less spot on, although nowadays most strains are a percentage of each and only landraces are true pure-sativa or pure-indica.
It all comes down to the chemicals in them, CBD, CBA, CBN and THC obviously.
In reality though there are over 300 chemicals that affect the brain so its not as straightforward as we all want to believe.
But in essence, you're right dude.

sativa originates from countries across the equator,
indicas from the mountainous regions of india, nepal, pakistan, afghanistan e.t.c,
natural sativas have for the most 12/12 of light & dark throughout their life, indicas being from the northern hemi have a more what we would call normal 18hours light in spring/summer,
but saying that their is native strains to south africa, swaziland, botswana, which i assume also follow a more 'normal' light cycle

Ask the budtenders dude, most people don't and they are the stoners biggest resource imo.
They'll point you in the direction of the high you want!

Yeah it seems to be the best bet, and like you say, surely they'll know better than anyone else! I'm gonna try and stick with Sativa's in the day and Indica's on the night, although I know i'll smoke a few and my plan will go right out the window haha!

A good thing to remember on this topic is sativa plants have long thin fingers for leaves. Indica plants have thick fingers for leaves, like a maple leaf. Of course this is a generalisation, but it's a pretty reliable way to diagnose a plant on sight alone. Google some images of weed plants and you will notice the differences quite easily.
Also, all Hazes are Sativas or sativa dominant at least. So if you are after a nice lively high morning smoke you can't go wrong with a haze.

the learning never stops here and its very rapid if you read through the old threads and remember what youve read, theres more wisdom and experience and a passion for the subject than you could possibly imagine here...

that "remember what you've read" part is the hardest!
